]]> Air India $2.8 billion loss marks the airline’s biggest annual setback since the Tata Group took control in 2022. The loss came during the financial year 2025–26 and reflects the airline’s ongoing restructuring efforts.

The Air India $2.8 billion loss equals about 3.56 billion Singapore dollars, or nearly ₹26,700 crore. The figure appeared in the annual report of Singapore Airlines, which holds a stake in Air India.

Several issues pushed costs higher. Jet fuel prices increased sharply during the year. Global supply chain problems also delayed aircraft maintenance and spare parts.

Airspace restrictions in parts of West Asia added another challenge. The airline had to adjust routes and cancel some international flights.

Despite the loss, the Tata Group continues its long-term plan to rebuild the airline. The company is investing in new aircraft, better services, and stronger global operations.
