Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has raised concerns about the extreme working hours in the film industry. He said long shifts harm both physical and mental health. On social media, he described how 12-hour workdays, long commutes, hurried meals, and limited sleep have become normal for industry workers.

Mehta highlighted the struggles of daily wagers, who are the most affected. He wrote that these workers arrive first, leave last, and survive under harsh conditions that would be unacceptable elsewhere. He questioned whether an industry could thrive by draining its workforce.

The filmmaker also noted that television and OTT platforms follow similar patterns. He explained that even global corporations often adopt the same stressful systems because they prove profitable.

Emphasizing the importance of well-being, Mehta said that prioritizing rest would improve efficiency, quality, and profits. He urged the industry to respect rest for all employees, especially those at the base of the hierarchy. He concluded that without well-being, the foundation of the industry remains weak.
