Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has raised serious concerns over the overuse of urea in agriculture, warning that excessive application could lead to cancer. Speaking at the Collectors’ Conference, he said cancer is already among the top five diseases affecting people in the state and emphasized the urgent need to spread awareness among farmers.

The CM announced that from next year, farmers will be allowed to use only the required amount of urea, with strict monitoring to prevent misuse. He assured that farmers who voluntarily reduce urea usage will receive incentives as encouragement. Additionally, the government plans to provide alternative supplements in the form of micronutrients to ensure soil health and sustainable crop production.

Chandrababu stressed that reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers is essential not just for healthier crops but also for safeguarding public health. He promised detailed guidelines soon to implement the policy effectively.

Anakapalli: Former Minister Gudivada Amarnath criticized the current government for failing to address farmers’ issues in Andhra Pradesh , including the distribution of urea and other essential agricultural support . Speaking at the YSRCP district office in Anakapalli, Amarnath said that while agriculture is the foundation of knowledge, farmers continue to struggle due to government neglect .

He highlighted that under Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan’s leadership, farmers received timely seeds and fertilizers through over 15,000 Rythu Bharosa Kendras , which provided efficient services and became a model for other regions. In contrast, he alleged that the present administration is threatening farmers and giving only one bag of urea regardless of land size, leaving them unprepared for the agricultural season.

Amarnath emphasized that YSRCP will continue to fight for farmers’ rights, submitting petitions at all RTO offices statewide on September 9 to highlight the government’s failure in addressing their concerns effectively.

Tirupati: Local leader Bhumana Abhinay Reddy has strongly criticized the state government for failing to address farmers’ problems. Speaking to the media on Friday, he said that many promises made earlier by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu are still unfulfilled. Farmers, especially small-scale ones, continue to suffer without proper support.

Reddy stressed that a severe shortage of fertilizers, especially urea, has pushed farmers into crisis. Many are forced to wait in long queues, while others buy fertilizers at higher prices from the black market. He warned that this situation is worsening farmers’ financial burden.

Praising former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan for his welfare measures, Reddy urged the present government to act immediately. He demanded that urea and other fertilizers be made available at fair and subsidized rates. According to him, timely intervention is the only way to reduce farmers’ distress and prevent further hardships.
