According to the Centre for Law and Policy Research , Telangana High Court ranks at the top in India for the number of women judges. Out of 30 sitting judges in the Telangana High Court, 10 are women , accounting for 33.3% of the bench. This proportion is the highest in the country, reflecting the state’s progressive approach toward gender representation in the judiciary.

Following Telangana, Sikkim High Court has one female judge among three sitting judges . Andhra Pradesh High Court ranks ninth in this list, with five women judges out of 30 . At the national level, the Supreme Court of India has only two women judges among its 33-member bench , highlighting the overall gender disparity in the judiciary.

This data underscores the importance of promoting gender equality in legal institutions. Telangana’s leadership in this regard serves as a benchmark for other states and encourages initiatives to increase the participation of women in the judicial system across India.
