The Heavy Rain Alert in AP has put several districts on caution as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Officials advised people to stay alert, especially in coastal and Rayalaseema regions.

According to IMD, isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may receive heavy rainfall along with lightning and gusty winds. The weather department also warned of squally conditions in some areas during the next two days. The Heavy Rain Alert in AP comes as changing weather patterns continue across the state.

Authorities asked farmers, fishermen, and residents in low-lying areas to take precautions. Disaster management teams remain on standby in vulnerable districts. Weather experts expect cloudy skies and scattered showers to continue through the weekend.

People should avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms and follow official weather updates for safety.

Heavy inflows from upstream areas continue to reach the Srisailam reservoir, forcing authorities to lift the gates once again. On Saturday, officials raised three radial crest gates by 10 feet for the fifth time this year to release excess water.

At present, the reservoir is receiving an inflow of 2,26,192 cusecs, while the outflow stands at 1,49,104 cusecs. The full reservoir level is 885 feet, but water has already reached 883.90 feet. Power generation is currently active at both the left and right bank hydropower stations, helping manage water levels while producing electricity.

Officials confirmed that inflows from upstream areas are increasing steadily. They are monitoring the situation closely and assured that necessary measures will be taken to maintain safe levels. Authorities also appealed to people in low-lying areas to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecast heavy rains in several parts of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday and Sunday. Widespread showers are expected to further add to reservoir inflows. The department urged residents to stay alert and follow safety advisories during this period of intense rainfall.

Eluru district electricity superintendent engineer P. Salman Raju instructed officers and staff to stay prepared to handle any emergency situation. He emphasized that continuous monitoring is required to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the heavy rains.

As per the orders of Eluru District Collector K. The Eluru district electricity office can be reached at 9440902926, while the Jangareddygudem division office will function in three shifts with the contact number 9491030712. These measures aim to ensure quick response in case of outages.

Officials also advised Ganesh pandal organizers to take necessary precautions to avoid accidents during the festival. Heavy rains and floods can increase the risk of electrical mishaps, so safety steps must be strictly followed.

In case of power interruptions or related problems, people have been asked to contact the nearest electricity section office, dial the toll-free helpline 1912, or call the control room numbers provided. The department assured that any registered complaint will be resolved immediately.
