Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned on Sunday that India could be “buried under the wreckage of its warplanes.” This came after Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi said Pakistan could be erased from the world map if it continued supporting terrorism.

Asif called these statements “provocative.” He claimed India’s leaders were trying to regain credibility after Operation Sindoor in May. He mentioned a “0-6 score,” referring to unverified claims of Pakistan downing six Indian jets.

Operation Sindoor began on May 7, following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The four-day conflict ended on May 10. India says it inflicted major damage to Pakistani military assets.

General Dwivedi warned that India would not show restraint in future conflicts. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh confirmed that Indian strikes damaged Pakistani aircraft, radars, command centres, and runways. He called Pakistan’s claims of Indian losses “false.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also issued a warning. He said any misadventure by Pakistan in the disputed Sir Creek region would get a “decisive response.” India is prepared to protect its sovereignty.

These exchanges highlight the rising tensions between the two neighbours. India has made it clear that any future talks will only focus on the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Army sources confirmed the incident did not violate the ceasefire. The firing started around 6:15 pm and continued intermittently for nearly an hour. No casualties were reported. The Army has not released an official statement yet.

This brief exchange follows tensions in May, when India launched Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistani terror infrastructure after the Pahalgam attack. The four-day conflict ended with a ceasefire, with India achieving its anti-terror objectives.During Operation Sindoor, several airbases and nine terror launch pads in Pakistan were destroyed. India did not face significant damage. The last confirmed ceasefire violation occurred on May 10, 2025.

Reports of August 5 alleged ceasefire violations were denied by the Indian Army. Officials clarified that no unprovoked firing came from Pakistan and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified news.

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said Operation Sindoor ended promptly once objectives were achieved. Prolonging the conflict was unnecessary as all anti-terror goals had been met.
