The Navy gets anti-submarine warfare ship at a crucial time, as China expands its presence in the Indian Ocean. With its cutting-edge design and advanced systems, Androth boosts India’s coastal surveillance and undersea defence.

At about 77 metres long, the ship is the largest Indian naval warship powered by a diesel engine-waterjet combination. It comes equipped with lightweight torpedoes and indigenous anti-submarine rockets, providing superior capability in detecting and neutralizing underwater threats.

The name Androth carries symbolic weight, inspired by the Androth Island in Lakshadweep. It reflects India’s commitment to securing its vast maritime frontiers. With more than 80% indigenous content, the ship aligns with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, reducing reliance on foreign imports.

The delivery of Androth marks a proud milestone for India’s naval shipbuilding, underscoring growing domestic expertise and reinforcing India’s ability to safeguard its waters.
