The Andhra Pradesh coalition government announced another major welfare decision today. It confirmed that the Sanjeevani Universal Health Policy will begin across the state in January 2026. Minister Achchennaidu shared the update during the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund cheque distribution event at Kotabommali in Srikakulam district. He said the scheme will offer free medical insurance coverage of up to ₹25 lakh per family each year.

According to him, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu introduced this policy to ensure better healthcare for poor families. He explained that the government aims to remove financial barriers to medical treatment. As a result, the scheme is expected to benefit lakhs of households across Andhra Pradesh.

During the programme, the minister handed over cheques to 100 beneficiaries in the village. He stated that families struggling with medical expenses will receive timely financial support. He also noted that the government is working to expand assistance through multiple welfare channels to ensure maximum coverage.

The minister added that his constituency alone received ₹2.10 crore in aid for 1,200 beneficiaries. He said the government will continue releasing funds to help more families soon. With the Sanjeevani scheme, the state hopes to build a stronger and more accessible public health support system.

He attended the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held on Friday to review the “Housing for All” program. Officials discussed land reforms and faster construction measures during the meeting.

Minister Narayana stated that the state aims to fulfill every poor family’s dream of owning a house. He mentioned that the government is working with a clear plan to ensure smooth progress. The housing project will also support economic growth and employment in construction.

He reminded that between 2014 and 2019, the TDP government approved seven lakh TIDCO houses. Out of them, five lakh houses entered the construction phase. Later, political changes caused delays in project work and affected thousands of beneficiaries.

Minister Narayana said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered the completion of 2.6 lakh TIDCO houses by June 2026. The government targets to hand over houses within the deadline. He assured that no poor family would face problems during the housing process.

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) has received its first major rate revision in 15 years. The new structure, effective from October 13, will benefit over 40 lakh CGHS beneficiaries across India. It includes updated pricing for nearly 2,000 medical procedures such as MRI, mammography, and laparotomy.

Experts said the revision will strengthen healthcare infrastructure and make treatment more viable for private hospitals. Emkay Global Financial Services noted that the move meets long-pending demands from private healthcare providers to align rates with rising medical costs. ICRA added that it will positively impact hospital chains serving CGHS patients.

The new policy introduces a tier-based rate system, separating NABH-accredited and non-accredited hospitals. Super-specialty hospitals with more than 200 beds will earn a 15 per cent premium over the base rate. Hospitals in smaller cities will also see improved reimbursement levels.

This update is expected to make high-quality hospitals more accessible to patients and increase treatment volumes. However, ICRA cautioned that delays in government payments under CGHS remain a concern compared to private and insurance-paying patients.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that auto drivers will receive ₹15,000 financial assistance under the Vahana Mitra Scheme on the occasion of Dasara. The scheme, which was earlier limited, will now also cover cab and taxi drivers who own and operate their vehicles.

According to official estimates, about 2.75 lakh beneficiaries were eligible in 2023–24 , but the number is expected to increase to nearly 2.90 lakh this year. To implement the scheme, the state government will spend approximately ₹435 crore.

During the previous YSRCP government, beneficiaries received only ₹10,000 each under the same scheme. Chandrababu’s decision to enhance the assistance amount to ₹15,000 is being projected as a move to provide greater support to drivers during the festive season. The scheme is expected to bring financial relief to thousands of families dependent on auto, cab, and taxi services.
