After the NDA’s strong win in Bihar, a cauliflower farm post shared by BJP minister Ashok Singhal started a big debate. He uploaded a photo of a cauliflower field on social media and wrote that Bihar had “approved cauliflower farming.” His cauliflower farm post spread fast, and many people began reacting sharply to it.

The cauliflower farm post reminded people of a painful chapter from Bihar’s past. Many users said the photo brought back memories of the 1989 Bhagalpur riots. During that time, more than a thousand people died. Locals have long said that several bodies were buried in fields where cauliflower was later grown. Because of this history, the minister’s photo upset many users.

Ashok Singhal’s supporters said he only meant to show good farming practices. However, many people felt the timing was wrong, especially right after the NDA’s big win. They accused him of ignoring Bihar’s tragic past.

The post has now turned into a national discussion. People are talking about how leaders must think before sharing sensitive images. The cauliflower farm post has become an example of how one picture can reopen old wounds and create new controversy during a politically charged moment.

The Bihar Poll Result Cauliflower controversy gained momentum soon after the National Democratic Alliance secured a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal posted a photo of a cauliflower field with the caption, “Bihar approves Gobi farming.” The Bihar Poll Result Cauliflower remark sparked immediate debate online.

Netizens claimed the post hinted at a disturbing incident from the 1989 Bhagalpur riots. Many users criticised the Minister for posting a caption they believed trivialised a painful period in Bihar’s history. They argued that the timing of such a remark, right after the election results, made the controversy even sharper.

The NDA’s win—202 seats out of 243—put the alliance in a strong political position. Party supporters celebrated, yet Singhal’s post soon overshadowed early reactions to the results. Several social media users demanded accountability, saying that political leaders should communicate with sensitivity, especially when a statement has the potential to revive old wounds.

Some felt that the Minister’s influential position required him to think carefully before associating a major mandate with a symbol that could trigger emotional responses. They called for more responsible behaviour from public figures, particularly when addressing large online audiences.

However, a section of users defended Singhal. They claimed he simply shared a humorous political comment and did not intend to reference any communal event. They argued that opponents were intentionally overinterpreting the post to create unnecessary tension.

The debate showed how quickly a symbolic post can turn into a statewide political discussion. In the age of instant digital reactions, even a simple image of a cauliflower field can spark controversy, emotional arguments, and widespread public conversation. The incident also highlighted how political messaging has become extremely sensitive and carefully dissected by the online public.

Yet, Muslim representation in power has stayed below 10% for decades. The last time it crossed 10% was in 1985, when 34 of 324 MLAs were Muslims. Since then, political presence has weakened.

Muslim voters play a crucial role in around 50–70 constituencies. This influence makes every party keen to attract them, but ticket distribution often remains limited. Historically, Muslims backed Congress, but dissatisfaction over governance led many to shift towards RJD, JD(U), and at times BJP.

The Bhagalpur riots of 1989 pushed Muslims further away from Congress, reshaping Bihar’s politics. Leaders like Syed Shahnawaz Hussain once gave BJP a Muslim face, but overall representation continued to fall. In the current Assembly, only 19 MLAs are Muslims, far below their population share.

Experts note that despite being a decisive vote bank, Muslims are not offered proportionate tickets. Even reserved seats are underutilized for Muslim candidates. Activists argue that until fair participation is ensured, the community will remain politically marginalized. This gap between numbers and power is now a major debate ahead of Bihar elections.
