AAP Failed MNREGA Employment promise, BJP leader Paramjit Singh Kainth said, despite MNREGA’s mandate of providing 100 days of work. Speaking at a press conference in Bathinda, the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha vice-president alleged that the state neither provided timely employment nor paid unemployment allowance.

Kainth said MNREGA requires work within 15 days of demand, failing which the government must pay allowance. He alleged that Punjab violated this provision across all 23 districts. He also questioned why no action was taken under Section 25 of the Act against responsible officials.

Raising corruption allegations, Kainth claimed the government failed to act on misuse of MNREGA funds. He alleged fake job cards, inflated bills, and payments for unfinished work. He said mandatory social audits were skipped in thousands of Gram Panchayats over the last two years.

The BJP leader further accused the government of shielding corrupt officials by ignoring audit findings and recovery orders worth ₹2.35 crore. He also dismissed claims that the Centre owed MNREGA dues to Punjab, citing a parliamentary committee report.

Kainth urged transparency and demanded a white paper on MNREGA implementation. He also condemned the FIR against journalists over helicopter misuse, calling it an attack on press freedom.

The Aam Aadmi Party has delivered a strong performance in Punjab’s local body elections. Results from block committee and district council polls showed a clear rural mandate for the ruling party. AAP won nearly 70 percent of the seats, sending a strong political message.

Party leaders said the outcome reflected public approval of the Bhagwant Mann government. With four years nearing completion, Punjab defied the usual anti-incumbency trend. Voters instead showed visible pro-incumbency support.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the media after the results. They highlighted the fairness of the electoral process. Authorities conducted videography at every stage, including counting. Close contests underlined transparency. Over 580 seats saw victory margins below 100 votes. AAP won 261 of these seats, while the opposition secured 319.

The party linked the mandate to policy outcomes on the ground. The government intensified its anti-drug campaign. Agencies arrested over 25,000 offenders and demolished properties of traffickers. Canal water reached farms after decades, easing pressure on groundwater.

Power reforms ensured eight hours of daytime supply for farmers. Around 90 percent of households received free electricity. Infrastructure projects expanded rural roads with long-term guarantees. The government also provided over 58,000 jobs without bribes.

Education and healthcare reforms gained traction through upgraded schools and mohalla clinics. Leaders said the results reflected trust, not compulsion.

Raju Slams AAP Liquor Policy as senior BJP leader and former IAS officer Dr. Jagmohan Singh Raju strongly criticised the Bhagwant Mann-led government for what he called a political stunt. He said the decision to declare Amritsar a “Holy City” means little when the government continues to dilute long-standing liquor restrictions.

Raju said the walled city followed a strict liquor prohibition for decades under the Punjab Liquor License Rules, 1956. He argued that the government replaced this strong framework with a weaker rule that restricts liquor sales only within 200 metres of the Golden Temple. He called the move regressive and said it hurts public sentiment.

Raju Slams AAP Liquor Policy again as he pointed out that the shift happened soon after the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice on a PIL filed by the K.S. Raju Legal Trust. The petition demands full “Holy City” status for Amritsar and a complete ban on liquor, meat and tobacco across the district.

Raju said the AAP government contradicted its own courtroom position. He said the state earlier defended the 1956 rules and opposed a total ban, citing revenue needs and hotel industry demands. He now wants the government to restore the original prohibition, declare the entire city a Holy City, and enforce a complete liquor ban before the next hearing on December 16, 2025.

He visited flood-hit villages and said farmers need permanent rights to government land. With these rights, they can claim compensation after natural disasters. Kataria stressed that those who till land for decades deserve security and support.

At MES Inspection Bungalow, he met officials to review relief work. Later, he went to the India-Pakistan Joint Check Post at Hussainiwala, now fully submerged. There, he interacted with families affected by floods.

Farmers told him they had cultivated government land for generations. Earlier, their names were part of the “girdawari” (cultivation record). That entry was removed from revenue papers. As a result, they lost eligibility for compensation despite heavy losses.

They recalled facing the same problem during the 2023 floods but receiving no relief. Kataria promised to fight for their rights. He assured them he would press the state government to provide fair treatment and lasting protection.
