During his jail stay, AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia named industrialist Nitin Kohli as halqa incharge. Soon, Kohli began holding meetings with Jalandhar’s Mayor and pushed for works in the area. He opened his office and worked aggressively, raising talk of a bypoll if Arora quit.

Now, Arora’s return has put Kohli’s plans at risk. By law, only the MLA can inaugurate public works. If Kohli continues doing so, it may trigger a clash. He has already planned 100 such events and refuses to stop.

Party leaders have not revealed their stand yet. Arora, once close to CM Bhagwant Mann, may try to reclaim his space. The Raman Arora Jalandhar Central battle is now a big test for AAP’s unity.
