The Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 are set to reveal the outcome of one of the most intense political battles the state has seen in recent years. This year’s polls made history with a record-breaking voter turnout of 66.91%, the highest in Bihar since elections began in 1951. Women voters played a crucial role, registering an unprecedented 71.6% turnout, far ahead of the 62.8% turnout among men.

The Election Commission deployed a massive workforce to ensure smooth polling across the state. Nearly 8.5 lakh election officials and 1.4 lakh polling agents managed booths for 2,616 candidates. Additionally, the Election Commission appointed 243 general observers, 38 police observers, and 67 expenditure observers to monitor the process. For the first time, 16 international delegates from six countries visited Bihar as observers.

As the results unfold today, the key fight is between the ruling JD(U)-led NDA and the Opposition RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party claims it has emerged as a viable alternative, though most exit polls suggest limited impact. These exit polls overwhelmingly predict a comfortable win for the NDA. Tejashwi Yadav, however, has dismissed these surveys, accusing poll agencies of acting under BJP influence to manipulate the narrative and put pressure on Election Commission officials.

The election campaign was marked by sharp personal attacks and allegations. Both alliances traded accusations over governance failures, rising crimes, corruption, Chhath-related controversies, and what each side labelled as “jungle raj.” Several high-profile murders in the months leading up to the election intensified the political slugfest.

Today’s results will determine whether Nitish Kumar, known for his shifting political alliances, secures a 10th term as Chief Minister, or whether voters choose Tejashwi Yadav to lead a new chapter in Bihar politics.

In the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, several outgoing MLAs have shown remarkable loyalty even after being denied party tickets. Despite intense political competition, these leaders from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have chosen to remain committed to their parties instead of rebelling.

From the Kosi-Seemanchal and eastern Bihar regions, around half a dozen MLAs who lost their chance to contest again continue working as active party members. Their calm response to being dropped shows that dedication and discipline still hold great value in Bihar politics.

In Bhagalpur, RJD MLA Ali Ashraf Siddiqui from the Nathnagar constituency accepted his party’s decision gracefully. Similarly, BJP MLA Bhudev Chaudhary from Dhoraiya in Banka stood firm with his party despite being denied a ticket. Their actions prove that true leadership is about loyalty, not power.

These loyal MLAs have set an inspiring example, showing that real commitment to party principles goes beyond personal ambitions. Their discipline has brought respect and admiration from both leaders and the public.

Owaisi has given the ticket to Ghulam Sarwar from the Baisi seat in Purnia district. Earlier, AIMIM had named Rana Ranjit Singh for the Dhaka seat in East Champaran.

AIMIM had earlier won the Baisi seat in 2020, but its MLA later joined RJD. Ghulam Sarwar, who once contested independently and polled about 5,000 votes, is back with AIMIM this time. Owaisi has appealed to voters in Baisi to ensure Sarwar’s victory.

During his Seemanchal Nyay Yatra, Owaisi said AIMIM would strongly fight the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. He also expressed willingness to join the Grand Alliance, demanding six seats, but so far no reply has come from RJD.

Rana Ranjit Singh, AIMIM’s candidate from Dhaka, belongs to the Rajput community and is actively campaigning. His candidacy could change equations for both NDA and the Grand Alliance. Like last time, Baisi is set for a triangular contest.

The IRCTC scam case has once again put the spotlight on RJD leaders. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has summoned Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the case. The hearing is scheduled for October 13, just months before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The court will give its decision on framing charges that day.

The IRCTC scam dates back to 2004–2009, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was Railway Minister. It is alleged that the maintenance contract for two IRCTC hotels was awarded to Sujata Hotels in exchange for three acres of prime land at a very low price. The CBI has named Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi, and others as accused in the case.

The FIR was filed in 2017, and a charge sheet was submitted in 2018. All the accused were granted bail. The case has moved slowly, but the October 13 hearing could mark a turning point. With elections approaching, the verdict in the IRCTC scam may have a major political impact in Bihar.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is focusing strongly on the upcoming Bihar elections. This is his second visit to the state within just 10 days. On September 18th, he met party workers from 20 districts in Dehri-Onson and Begusarai. Now, on September 27th, he will return to Bihar for another round of meetings.

This time, Amit Shah will address BJP leaders and workers in three key locations—Araria, Saran, and Vaishali. Leaders from nearby districts will also join these meetings. The BJP is preparing its election strategy by dividing Bihar into five zones. Out of these, two zones have already held meetings on September 18th, while the remaining three zones are scheduled for September 27th.

These visits highlight the importance of Bihar in the upcoming polls. Amit Shah also held a meeting with Bihar BJP leaders in Delhi earlier this month. With frequent visits and zone-based planning, BJP is sharpening its approach to connect with workers and strengthen its base ahead of the Bihar elections.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are set to energize state politics. The Election Commission may announce dates in early October, and the polls are expected in two phases. The main contest is between the ruling NDA and the opposition All India Alliance. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar aims to retain public trust after over two decades in power. The opposition highlights unemployment, corruption, and alleged vote theft.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi focuses on vote theft allegations, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav campaigns on unemployment and corruption. This election follows the 2023 caste survey, which revealed that Backward and Extremely Backward Classes form 63% of Bihar’s population. Yadavs are 14%, EBCs 36%, Scheduled Castes 19%, and upper castes 15%, with Muslims at 17%.

After the survey, Nitish Kumar increased reservations in jobs and education to 65%, keeping 10% for economically weaker sections, strengthening his OBC support.

The central government approved a national caste census in April 2025, which BJP now supports, reducing opposition advantage. Analysts say NDA may leverage OBC and Hindu consolidation politics. Caste remains a decisive factor, while development, employment, and migration dominate voter concerns.
