]]> National Parties Lose Ground in Bihar as regional outfits, especially the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), strengthen their base. According to the Election Commission, national parties secured 35% of the votes in the 2015 Assembly elections, but this dropped to 32% in 2020. Meanwhile, regional parties improved from 42.58% to 45.92%, showing their growing dominance.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saw its vote share decline from 24.42% in 2015 to 19.46% in 2020, though its seats increased from 53 to 74. Congress gained votes, moving from 6.66% to 9.48%, but its seat count fell from 27 to 19.

Among regional players, RJD remained the strongest, though its vote share slipped slightly from 23.11% in 2015 to 18.35% in 2020. Janata Dal (United) also declined from 16.83% to 15.39%. The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), however, improved from 4.83% to 5.66%.

Smaller national parties like BSP, CPI, CPM, and NCP continued to lose support. The overall picture reflects a steady rise of regional forces and the reduced influence of national parties, reshaping Bihar’s political landscape.
