The Samrat Choudhary First Cabinet Meeting approved 22 major decisions aimed at improving infrastructure, tourism, and urban development in Bihar. The meeting marked the first cabinet session of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary after he took office.

In the Samrat Choudhary First Cabinet Meeting, the state government approved ₹680 crore to develop a corridor around Baba Hariharnath Temple in Sonepur. The project will follow the model of the famous Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi and aims to boost tourism in the region.

The cabinet also approved the development of 11 greenfield satellite townships across major cities. These include Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Saharsa, Sitamarhi and Chhapra to promote planned urban growth. Until the master plan is ready, land sale and construction activities in these zones will remain restricted.

Several other proposals were cleared during the meeting. The government approved scooters for 1,500 women police personnel and motorcycles for 3,200 other police staff to strengthen security. It also decided to upgrade 75 ITIs into modern skill training centres and approved funds for a research park at IIT Patna.

These decisions highlight the new government’s focus on infrastructure development, employment generation, and better urban planning in Bihar.

The Rabri Devi Residence became a major political topic in Bihar after the new government reviewed bungalow allotments. The Nitish Kumar administration planned to shift the Rabri Devi Residence, but the decision drew criticism. The key reason behind this move was linked to an old case involving Tejashwi Yadav.

Rabri Devi currently lives at 10, Circular Road. She was offered a new bungalow at Harding Road. Lalu Prasad Yadav also stays in the same complex. After recent elections, tension increased when Tejashwi Yadav and Rohini Acharya reportedly argued at this address.

RJD called the government order an act of revenge. The party said the move came because of BJP’s influence. They claimed the government targeted Rabri Devi after the court case related to Tejashwi Yadav’s former bungalow.

Tejashwi’s dispute began in 2017, when he was asked to vacate the bungalow given to him as Deputy Chief Minister. He took the matter to the High Court. During the hearings, the court found that a 2010 rule allowed lifetime bungalows for former Chief Ministers.

In 2019, the court cancelled that rule. Because this protection was removed, the government gained the power to shift former CM residences. This is why the attempt to change the Rabri Devi Residence happened, though political pressure later stopped it.

A key move was the hike in Home Guard allowance. Their duty and training allowance has increased from ₹774 to ₹1,121 per day, giving a direct benefit to security personnel across the state.

Another significant step was the approval of seven new medical colleges and hospitals. These will come up in Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Arwal, and Sheikhpura districts. The Bihar government expects this expansion to improve healthcare infrastructure and bring medical services closer to rural citizens.

The Cabinet also decided to create a state-level Excise and Narcotics Control Bureau. On the lines of the Narcotics Control Bureau, it will investigate illegal drugs, psychotropic substances, and liquor-related crimes. To run the bureau, 88 new posts have been sanctioned.

In addition, the Bihar Cabinet upgraded revenue employees’ posts to state-level, allowing transfers between districts. The minimum qualification has been raised to graduation, and the age limit increased from 18 to 21 years. Promotions for Amins (land record officers) were also approved.

These measures highlight the Bihar government’s focus on stronger law enforcement, better healthcare, and improved administration.
