These committees will monitor government work, review policies, and improve legislative functioning in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

Several members from major political parties received important roles. Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, Indian National Congress, Hindustani Awam Morcha, Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen were chosen as chairpersons of different committees.

The Bihar Assembly Committees include important panels such as the Public Accounts Committee, Estimates Committee, and Public Sector Undertakings Committee. These panels review government spending, examine policies, and monitor the work of different departments.

However, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) did not receive any chairperson position in the newly announced list. This absence has drawn political attention in the state.

The formation of these committees aims to strengthen legislative oversight and ensure accountability in the functioning of the Bihar Assembly.

The Bihar Assembly elections are expected to begin soon after the Chhath festival. The Election Commission is planning to hold the elections in three phases, with the first phase starting right after the festival. This will allow for enough time for all preparations to be completed.

This year, EVMs will feature colored photographs of candidates to help voters identify them easily. The ‘NOTA’ option will also be displayed, and international Indian numbering will be used for better clarity. These changes aim to make voting easier and more transparent.

In 2020, the elections were held in three phases, with voting on October 28, November 3, and November 7. This year, a similar approach is being followed. Voting is expected to take place after finalizing the voter lists by December 30.

Despite concerns over voter deletions and suppression, the Election Commission is committed to ensuring a free and fair election. Preparations are in full swing for a smooth election process.

The Amnour Assembly seat in Bihar has seen three elections since its formation in 2008, and the NDA has won all three. Despite frequent political shifts, the NDA continues to enjoy voter trust here. This seat is strongly influenced by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Chhapra. Currently, Krishna Kumar Mantoo, who serves as the IT Minister in Nitish Kumar’s government, represents Amnour.

Geographically, Amnour is surrounded by the Gandak, Mahi, and Dobra rivers, making its land fertile. Politically, however, it remains a tough battleground. Over the years, margins of victory have narrowed, showing rising competition. Yet, the NDA has managed to retain its hold.

In 2010, Mantoo, contesting as a JD(U) candidate, defeated RJD’s Sunil Kumar Rai by over 10,000 votes. After the JD(U)-BJP alliance split, BJP’s Shatrughan Tiwari (Chokar Baba) defeated Mantoo in 2015 by 5,368 votes. The fight became even tougher in 2020, when BJP gave the ticket again to Tiwari while JD(U) fielded Mantoo. Mantoo, this time, defeated Sunil Kumar Rai of RJD by the same margin of 5,368 votes, while Chokar Baba finished third.

Amnour remains crucial for the NDA since it is both the constituency of a state minister and the political base of Rudy.
