BSSC Chairman Alok Raj resigns just two days after taking charge of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission, creating a fresh stir in the state administration. BSSC Chairman Alok Raj resigns citing personal reasons, according to officials from the General Administration Department.

Alok Raj, a retired IPS officer and former Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, submitted his resignation shortly after joining the post. He had taken charge as the full-time chairman of the BSSC following a recent government notification.

The state government appointed him for a five-year term or until he reached the age of 65. Before this appointment, Alok Raj had already served as chairman with additional charge, which made his sudden exit even more surprising.

Sources said he did not mention any political or administrative pressure in his resignation letter. The government has not issued a detailed statement on the matter so far.

The Bihar Staff Selection Commission plays a key role in conducting recruitment exams and selecting candidates for various government posts. Alok Raj’s resignation may delay upcoming recruitment processes until a new chairman takes charge.

Officials expect the government to announce a replacement soon to ensure smooth functioning of the commission and avoid further disruption in recruitment work.

The Bihar government job calendar 2026 brings fresh hope for the youth of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the new government is working quickly to create more job opportunities. The Bihar government job calendar 2026 will be released in January and will guide all recruitment exams for the entire year.

Jobs were a major topic during the 2025 Assembly elections. Because of that, the government set a clear goal: provide 1 crore jobs between 2025 and 2030. Earlier, under Saat Nischay-2, nearly 50 lakh young people received jobs and support between 2020 and 2025. Now the target is even bigger.

To speed up the process, every department must send details of vacant posts to the General Administration Department by December 31, 2025. After receiving these details, recruitment commissions will publish a full calendar with exam dates, advertisement dates, and result dates.

The government also plans to make exams faster and fairer. For example, no recruitment process will take more than one year from advertisement to final results. In addition, strict action will be taken against cheating, and fast-track courts will handle such cases.

Furthermore, Bihar will increase the number of CBT exam centres. This will help conduct online exams smoothly and on time. With all these steps, the state wants its youth to be skilled, confident, and ready for secure government jobs.

The court stressed that disciplinary actions must always include valid reasons.

Justice Sanjeev Kumar delivered the ruling after hearing a petition by Tarkeshwar Pandey. The candidate said the Bihar Public Service Commission banned him unfairly. He explained that the preliminary exam paper was delayed by thirty minutes. Later, his brief media statement was circulated in a misleading way. Based on this, BPSC imposed a three-year ban.

BPSC had barred him from appearing in exams from February 19, 2024, to December 12, 2027. He argued that his detailed explanation was ignored. The court agreed and noted that fairness demands clear reasoning before punishing candidates.

The High Court also cited Supreme Court rulings that reasons are essential in disciplinary action. The judge declared that the BPSC order lacked justification. The decision restored the petitioner’s right to sit in future exams.

This ruling sets a strong precedent. It shows that exam bodies must act with transparency and fairness. The Patna High Court quashes BPSC ban to protect candidates’ rights and uphold natural justice.
