The Grand Alliance has released its manifesto for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, focusing strongly on the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs). Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched the first part of the manifesto in Patna. The alliance introduced the “Extremely Backward Classes Justice Resolution,” highlighting special measures for EBCs.

Key promises include 30% reservation for EBCs in panchayats and municipal bodies, along with a new law to protect their rights, similar to the SC/ST Act. Rahul Gandhi also criticized the Nitish Kumar government, questioning why it failed to honor commitments to backward communities during its long rule.

The Grand Alliance listed 10 major promises in the resolution. These include land allotment for landless families, higher reservation in education and jobs, and 50% reservation in government contracts. They also pledged reservation in private schools and colleges, formation of a regulatory authority for monitoring reservations, and ensuring that only the legislature can alter the caste list.

If implemented, these promises could significantly reshape Bihar’s political and social landscape, giving greater participation and justice to EBCs.

Prashant Kishor, leader of Jan Suraaj, addressed a gathering in Kishanganj on Sunday during the “Bihar Badlav” campaign. At Anjuman Islamia Madrasa, he spoke about Bihar’s inequality, political neglect, and the role of the Muslim community.

He said Muslims are the poorest after Dalits in Bihar. More than half of Muslim families live in poverty and cannot provide proper opportunities for their children. Kishor argued that repeated reminders of their minority status have weakened Muslims mentally. Based on their population, they should have 40 MLAs, but only 19 represent them today.

The Jan Suraaj leader urged Muslims to stop worrying only about numbers and instead fight for their rights. He explained that BJP’s strength lies in its ideology, which can be countered with Gandhian thought. He also criticized AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi for speaking only about Muslims, stressing that real progress requires Hindus and Muslims to work together.

Former MP Uday Singh, who also addressed the event, said leaders use both Hindus and Muslims for votes, trapping them in fear and division. He appealed for unity and urged people to support candidates who can build a better future for Bihar.
