The government also offers another option. Farmers can sell their land instead of joining the project. In that case, they can receive up to four times the market price as compensation.

The township model also sets land for public use. Around 22% will go to roads and infrastructure. About 5% will go to parks and public facilities. Another 3% will support housing for weaker sections.

Officials say the plan will boost urban growth. Farmers can also gain higher land value in the future.
