Local body elections in Telangana have turned intense after the first phase of Sarpanch results. Although the ruling Congress secured the highest number of seats, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi also won a significant share. Therefore, leaders from both parties have gone on alert. Congress leaders have now focused sharply on the second and third phases of polling scheduled for later this month.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders have begun holding discussions with local representatives in polling areas. They believe stronger coordination can help the party win more seats. With only one day left for the second phase, leaders have urged cadres to work harder at the ground level. At the same time, party leadership has stressed discipline and unity to avoid internal damage.

On the other hand, BRS leaders have also reviewed their performance closely. They feel better mobilization could have improved results in the first phase. As a result, the party has intensified efforts in upcoming phases. Both parties now aim to maximize their seat count and strengthen village-level influence.

Interestingly, several MLAs failed to secure wins in their own villages despite winning large constituencies earlier. This trend has triggered political debate across the state. Analysts say local dynamics differ from state politics. In total, Congress won 2,864 villages, BRS secured 1,143, BJP won 185, and others took 43 seats.

BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao said the panchayat results marked the beginning of the Congress collapse. Although Congress tried to control the situation, people rejected its style of governance. He noted that BRS supporters won many seats despite strong resistance from ruling party leaders. Moreover, he appreciated workers who stood firm against alleged attacks.

KTR said the Chief Minister’s tours failed to influence voters. Instead, rural voters showed clear anger at the government. He pointed out that Congress could not cross even 44 percent of the seats it contested. Therefore, he argued that the results proved people were unhappy with Revanth Reddy’s administration. He added that the BJP still lacked real strength in Telangana, while BRS remained the main alternative.

He further said villagers realised that development had stalled under Congress rule. Many candidates of the ruling party lost by narrow margins, and that, according to him, reflected public frustration. Additionally, he stated that villagers expected better progress but saw no improvement during the last two years. Consequently, the ruling party faced a setback in rural regions.

KTR said voters remembered the unfulfilled guarantees. Farmers, he noted, struggled with urea shortages and low crop prices. Pension delays, Mahalakshmi issues, and bonus promises also created distrust. Ultimately, he said these problems pushed rural voters toward BRS.

Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy responded to the unexpected result in his native village, Ranga Reddy Guda, where a BJP-backed candidate won the sarpanch election. He said sarpanch polls do not use party symbols, and villagers usually support candidates who promise better development. He also accused the BRS and BJP of working together in the village.

Speaking to a news channel today, Anirudh Reddy stated that the winning candidate had lost twice earlier and gained sympathy votes this time. He added that some external forces supported the BJP-backed contestant only to undermine him. He admitted that he focused more on other villages and assumed his own village would naturally support him, which caused some negligence on his part.

According to him, if a BRS candidate had contested, they would have secured only 13 votes. He further said most villages in the region did not even have BRS candidates. The MLA argued that the result was influenced more by local sentiment than by political equations.

In the final count, 972 votes were cast in the village. Congress candidate Anjali received 459 votes, while BJP candidate Katepaga Revathi secured 490 votes. Revathi’s initial majority of six votes increased to 31 votes after a recount requested by Congress leaders.

All major political parties are confident about winning the Jubilee Hills by-election. The Congress believes victory is assured, while the BRS expects to retain the seat with a strong margin. BRS leaders accused Congress of misusing power during polling but maintained that the final victory would favor them. Meanwhile, BJP leaders expressed satisfaction, saying they achieved their goal of securing the deposit.

Congress leaders, after reviewing the polling trend, concluded that their candidate Naveen Yadav would win by around 20,000 votes. Ministers supervising the divisions examined voting percentages booth-wise to estimate the margin. However, some divisions witnessed lower-than-expected polling, and ministers are now identifying reasons for that turnout.

Despite exit polls predicting a BRS defeat, party leaders remain confident. They believe the surveys are inaccurate and that the actual voting pattern favors them. The BRS is preparing for large-scale celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on the counting day, asserting that their win is certain.

The BJP, on the other hand, focused mainly on securing its deposit rather than victory. In 2023, its candidate even lost the deposit. This time, BJP leaders claim they worked hard to avoid such an embarrassment and are confident of achieving their minimum goal.

In the Jubilee Hills by-election, the BJP appears more focused on saving its deposit than securing a victory. Party insiders admit that their main goal is to at least retain the deposit, given the weak ground-level situation. During the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP candidate lost his deposit, and similar concerns are haunting party leaders this time too.

Despite its strong presence in Hyderabad during the 2019 GHMC elections and Kishan Reddy’s two Lok Sabha wins, the BJP’s local momentum seems to have weakened. Sources reveal that leaders are working hard to cross the 17% vote mark needed to save their deposit. Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay have been actively campaigning to revive the party’s image in Jubilee Hills.

Political observers believe that if the BJP candidate, Deepak Reddy—considered close to Union Minister Kishan Reddy—fails to retain his deposit again, it could trigger internal criticism. Some leaders argue that giving the ticket to a BC community candidate might have strengthened the fight. Ignoring such advice, Kishan Reddy is now personally leading the campaign.

To secure at least 20% of the votes, party leaders are reportedly planning strategic poll management in select areas. Their current goal is not just to perform better but to avoid another embarrassment of losing the deposit in this high-stakes contest.

On Wednesday, Telangana BJP celebrated *Liberation Day* at its office under the leadership of Union Minister Kishan Reddy. During the event, State BJP President Ramachandra Rao unveiled the national flag.

Rao emphasized the need for the state government to officially recognize *Telangana Liberation Day*, stating that such events should not be used for political gains. He announced that if the BJP comes to power in the state, it will officially observe the day.

The historic day marks the merger of the Hyderabad princely state into the Indian Union on *September 17, 1948. Prior to that, Hyderabad was under the rule of Nizam Osman Ali Khan, who continued his reign until India’s **Operation Polo* led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Indian Army entered Hyderabad on *September 13, 1948*, and within four days, the Nizam surrendered, leading to Hyderabad’s integration into India. Many Telangana leaders, such as Ravi Narayan Reddy and Mallu Swarajyam, sacrificed their lives in this fight for liberation.
