According to the new rules, only women above 23 years of age with a family income of less than ₹1 lakh annually can apply. The income cap in women’s scheme reduces the coverage, leaving out many who were expecting financial help.

JJP youth wing president Digvijay Chautala accused the BJP of betraying voters. He said people trusted the party because it assured universal financial assistance. “Now thousands of women are excluded. This is a complete breach of promise,” Chautala said.

The scheme was introduced to support women financially and improve their decision-making power at home. Yet, critics argue that narrowing its reach defeats its original purpose. The JJP believes that the income cap in women’s scheme shows the BJP’s lack of commitment to women’s welfare.

Local women have also expressed disappointment. Many said they planned their household budgets based on the BJP’s campaign assurance of ₹2,100 monthly support. With restrictions now in place, several feel abandoned.

The JJP has demanded that the state government immediately remove the income limit and extend the monthly benefit to all women, as originally promised. The party also warned that ignoring this demand will affect public trust ahead of future elections.
