The first phase of Gram Panchayat elections began across Telangana this morning. Polling started at 7 AM for 3,834 sarpanch seats and 27,628 ward member seats. Moreover, 56 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes at 37,562 polling stations. Officials plan to complete polling by 1 PM and announce results after counting begins at 2 PM. Soon after the results, ward members will meet to elect the deputy sarpanch by consensus.

Earlier, the election notification covered 4,236 sarpanch seats and 37,440 ward member seats. However, no nominations were filed for five sarpanch posts and 169 ward posts. Additionally, 396 sarpanch seats and 9,633 ward positions were already elected unanimously. One sarpanch seat and ten ward seats remain under High Court stay.

In this phase, 12,960 candidates are contesting for sarpanch posts, while 65,455 candidates are competing for ward member seats. Competition remains intense in several villages due to multiple candidates.

For smooth polling, the State Election Commission installed CCTV cameras at every polling station. Furthermore, they added webcasting in 3,461 sensitive polling centres. Nearly 50,000 civil police, 60 special platoons, and 2,000 fire and forest personnel are on duty. SEC Rani Kumudini urged voters to vote freely and peacefully.

The Bihar government has started a major reform to improve mutation and mutation reports across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha reviewed the revenue department’s work and stressed that mutation and mutation reports must be prepared every day with clear, date-wise progress.

He said that officers must show how much work they complete within deadlines. He warned that strict action will be taken against corrupt employees. A grading system for all revenue staff will begin on December 15.

The Deputy CM also checked the progress of land surveys, refinement plus, the complaint management system, and revenue payments. He ordered clear reporting from Circle Officers to Divisional Commissioners.

To increase transparency, he instructed all zonal offices to install CCTV cameras and display boards with the names and contact details of officers. A central CCTV control system will also be set up to monitor all staff.

A separate monitoring cell and flying squads will be formed for surprise inspections. He will personally visit districts starting December 15, beginning from Lakhisarai, to review revenue work. He said simple and clear language should be used so that people trust the department more.

Kurukshetra Security Tightened for PM Modi’s Visit became the central focus today as the district went on high alert ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival. The administration launched multi-layered security measures for the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Sri Tegh Bahadur Ji and the International Gita Mahotsav-2025. The Kurukshetra Security Tightened for PM Modi’s Visit plan aims to ensure complete VVIP protection throughout the event.

A massive deployment of 14 IPS officers, 54 DSPs and nearly 5,000 police personnel has strengthened the security grid. Teams are active in day and night shifts across the event venues, the Mahotsav complex and the entire route of the Prime Minister. Moreover, police units now monitor all sensitive points to manage crowds and traffic smoothly.

DGP OP Singh personally reviewed the preparations and instructed officers to maintain absolute vigilance. He said police forces would cover every inch of the PM’s movement route. High-resolution CCTVs, surveillance systems and fully equipped control rooms support real-time monitoring.

Additionally, the district has enforced a strict ban on drones and gliders. SP Nitish Agarwal said no organisation or individual would receive permission to operate such devices.

Senior officers, including DGP OP Singh and ADGP Sanjay Kumar, also inspected Jyotisar and Purushottampura Bagh. They reviewed security deployment, traffic flow and logistics to ensure full readiness for the Prime Minister’s visit.

The Illegal Mining Policy Push in Punjab intensified after AAP MLA Dinesh Chadha wrote a strong letter to the Ropar administration. This Illegal Mining Policy Push comes after media reports showed excavators and tippers operating in riverbeds late at night despite the new Mining Policy-2025.

Chadha questioned how newspapers and TV channels could capture such footage while officials claimed they knew nothing. He said the situation exposes weak vigilance and raises doubts about district-level monitoring.

He reminded the administration that the Punjab Government introduced the Mining Policy-2025 under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to regularise operations and stop illegal structures. Any violation now, he argued, goes beyond an administrative gap. It shows wilful negligence by the officials responsible for enforcement.

The MLA highlighted that the new policy includes several strict measures. These include scientific demarcation of mining blocks, e-auction of all sites, CCTV cameras at loading points, and GPS-based tracking of tippers and excavators. Digital transit passes now record each consignment and help prevent pilferage. A complete ban on night mining applies unless written permission is granted for rare cases.

Chadha demanded personal accountability for every officer, from mining inspectors to SHOs. He said illegal extraction, even after such a transparent system, challenges the authority of the Punjab Government. Strong action, he stated, must begin immediately.

He urged the DC and SSP to ensure full, district-wide implementation of the Mining Policy-2025. Continued unauthorised mining, he warned, damages the environment and weakens public trust in the administration.
