Taking to X, the Congress leader reacted to posts about the row at the India AI Impact Summit. He said the event failed to leverage India’s talent and innovation. Instead, he claimed, it promoted foreign products under the AI banner.

The controversy erupted after authorities asked Galgotias University to vacate its stall at the expo. Critics alleged that the university displayed a Chinese-made robotic dog as its own invention. The issue triggered sharp online backlash and political debate.

However, the university denied the charge. In a statement, it said it purchased the robot for academic research. It added that robotic programming forms part of its effort to train students in AI application development. Furthermore, it described the criticism as propaganda that could harm student morale.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit at Bharat Mandapam. He stressed that India’s AI growth would drive inclusive and global progress. The five-day summit, held under the IndiaAI Mission and Digital India initiative, has drawn global leaders and policymakers.
