]]> The Apparel Export Promotion Council welcomed stronger India-Canada ties and the resumption of CEPA talks. Chairman A. Sakthivel said a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement could double apparel exports to Canada within three years. Current exports stand at $250 million. He added that the agreement would attract investment and create jobs in the textile sector.

AEPC praised the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and his meeting with Narendra Modi. Both leaders supported stronger economic engagement and a mutually beneficial CEPA. Sakthivel said the partnership could position India as a responsible sourcing destination with focus on sustainable energy.

Industry leaders believe stronger ties will promote technology transfer and R&D partnerships. Areas such as AI and automation may help scale production and improve global compliance standards. Both sides also highlighted the importance of skilling and talent mobility to deepen people-to-people ties.

India and Canada also announced a Strategic Energy Partnership. Under this, Cameco will supply uranium for India’s civil nuclear reactors from 2027 to 2035. Officials aim to double bilateral trade to $70 billion by 2030.
