Bihar normally receives around 990 mm of rainfall during the monsoon season. However, recent years recorded much lower rainfall. In four of the last five years, the state faced a rain deficit. Weather experts link this trend to climate change and shifting monsoon patterns. Rain-bearing systems often move away from Bihar, reducing cloud formation and steady rainfall.

Farmers struggle to protect paddy and other crops due to weak rainfall. Many depend fully on monsoon water for irrigation. Low rainfall also raises temperatures and increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.

If this pattern continues, rural incomes may fall and food production could suffer in the coming years.
