The Congress party is confident about its victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Exit polls have shown results in its favor. The party collectively implemented strategies and reached out to voters with full force. Congress last won this seat in 2009 when P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, son of late PJR, emerged victorious. Since then, the party has failed to reclaim the seat.

In the last Assembly election, Congress candidate Azharuddin lost to BRS leader Maganti Gopinath despite polling over 63,000 votes. For 16 years, the party has struggled to secure victory in this constituency. The by-election was necessitated by Gopinath’s death, making it a matter of prestige for Congress. Despite ruling the state, the party has not achieved much success in the Greater Hyderabad region.

This election is seen as a test for Congress’s strength in urban Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan guided the campaign, while ministers and senior leaders actively participated. Development and welfare schemes were promoted to connect with voters.

With exit polls predicting a Congress win, leaders are in high spirits. They believe that a victory here would energize the party for upcoming local body elections.

Former Minister Harish Rao criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, accusing them of bringing disrepute to the state by making inconsistent statements on the Krishna water share. He claimed their lack of knowledge could lead to losing Telangana’s rightful water allocation. Harish recalled that former CM KCR had firmly demanded 763 TMC water share in the past. He accused Revanth of remaining silent on Banakacherla project due to fear of Chandrababu Naidu (CBN), but now failing to oppose Karnataka’s Almatti dam raising for the sake of aligning with the Indian National Congress (INC) government there. Harish emphasized that such contradictory behavior undermines Telangana’s interests and damages its reputation nationally. He urged the current leadership to take a firm, principled stand on inter-state water disputes instead of political compromises.
