]]> Narcotic cough syrup seized in Patna after police carried out a raid in the Ramkrishna Nagar area. Officers found a large stock of illegal cough syrup meant for drug abuse. Police recovered about 30,000 bottles. The total value of the consignment is nearly ₹50 lakh. This case of narcotic cough syrup seized in Patna has raised concern among officials.

Police said the container arrived from Chennai. The shipment was headed to a warehouse in Jakariyapur. Officers acted quickly after they received a tip-off. During the raid, they found around 200 cartons filled with codeine-based cough syrup.

Police arrested Mohammad Jamshed from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. He drove the container to Patna. Investigators believe a smuggling network planned to sell the syrup in several districts of Bihar.

Officials have started a wider investigation. They now want to find the people behind the illegal supply chain.
