Farmers Protest in Chandigarh Over Compensation as thousands of farmers assembled at Sector 43 Dussehra Ground today. The gathering, led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, drew large crowds from several districts of Punjab. Farmers expressed anger over the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 and demanded immediate compensation for crops destroyed in recent floods. The issue of relief for affected farmers remained the central theme of the protest.

The protest began early in the morning as groups of farmers reached Chandigarh in tractor-trolleys, jeeps, and buses. Leaders said the government must understand the severity of crop losses and release funds without delay. They argued that the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 threatens the security of free or subsidised power and may place additional financial burdens on rural households.

Meanwhile, the administration increased security across the city. Police teams monitored all entry points to ensure smooth movement and prevent any disruption. Officers also maintained a tight vigil around the protest site.

Farmer leaders announced that the agitation will continue until their demands receive a firm response. They urged the government to start talks at the earliest and assure farmers that their livelihoods will be protected.

A representation was submitted to the Chief Minister. The MLA said several villages in Amaravati and Pedakurapadu mandals would lose agricultural lands due to the project.

The MLA mentioned that villages such as Lingapuram, Dharanikota, Balusupadu and Kambhampadu fall directly on the ORR route. Many farmer families in these villages depend fully on their lands. He said their livelihoods would be severely affected once the land acquisition begins. He urged the government to act sensitively and protect their interests.

Praveen stated that assurance must be given to every affected family. He asked the Chief Minister to ensure appropriate compensation for the loss of land. He added that justice should be done in line with the damage caused. According to him, farmers are willing to cooperate if the support is fair and transparent.

The MLA said the request was made on behalf of the people of the Pedakurapadu constituency. He also stressed the need for a proper rehabilitation plan. He believed that timely action by the government would prevent distress among the affected families.

Human Elephant Conflict Deepens in Jharkhand Villages as attacks increase across several districts. In the last week, five people lost their lives. Two elephants also died under doubtful conditions in West Singhbhum. The growing danger has created fear in rural communities.

On Sunday night, a herd of 15 elephants entered Kharkanda village in Bokaro. They arrived around 11 pm and roamed for hours. The herd crushed 45-year-old Sanjo Devi. They also broke 25 to 30 houses, damaged vehicles, and ate stored grain. Many residents climbed to rooftops to save themselves. Villagers say the loss runs into lakhs and they want quick compensation.

The human elephant conflict worsened earlier too. Last week, two youths, Prakash Mahto and Charku Mahto, died near the Tilaiya Underground railway crossing. Thick darkness and forest cover gave them no time to escape.

More cases followed in nearby districts. In Chatra, 43-year-old Nakul Oraon died in an attack. On Saturday night, a wild elephant killed 40-year-old farmer Chhotan Munda in Ranchi district. Villagers blocked NH-75 the next morning. They demanded support, security, and a government job for the victim’s family.

Priyanka Gandhi demands justice for Jaipur fire victims after a tragic incident at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. On October 6, 2025, a fire broke out in the trauma centre’s neuro ICU, killing six patients and injuring several others.

The Congress general secretary expressed deep grief over the incident. She extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the injured. “May God grant peace to the departed souls,” she said in a post on X. Priyanka Gandhi called the deaths in the trauma centre “extremely heart-wrenching.”

She urged the Rajasthan government to provide adequate compensation to victims’ families and conduct a swift investigation. “Strict action should be taken so such incidents do not recur,” she added.

The fire erupted around midnight in a storage area of the trauma centre, reportedly due to a short circuit. Dr. Anurag Dakhad, trauma centre in-charge, confirmed that eleven patients were in ICU at the time of the incident.

This incident has raised serious concerns about hospital safety protocols. Priyanka Gandhi stressed the need for stronger safety measures in hospitals to prevent similar tragedies in the future. She appealed for full transparency in the probe and assured support for the affected families.

The Jaipur fire tragedy is now a national concern. Priyanka Gandhi’s statement reflects the demand for accountability, compensation, and safer medical facilities.

YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep anguish over the deaths of two tribal schoolgirls at Kurupam Gurukula School in Parvathipuram Manyam district. The deaths occurred after students consumed contaminated water from a malfunctioning RO plant, leaving several others seriously ill.

Jagan criticized the current government, questioning why, despite having numerous ministers, it failed to ensure student safety and proper school facilities. He highlighted that under his administration, government schools received essential amenities, including electricity, fans, furniture, digital panels, drinking water, and functioning RO plants, ensuring safe learning environments.

He accused the current regime of neglecting government schools, leading to deteriorating infrastructure and student health hazards. Demanding immediate action, Jagan called for Rs 25 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased girls and urged the Chief Minister to take moral responsibility, restore school facilities, and prioritize children’s health and safety.
