The Assam Congress is facing deep internal turmoil as Dhubri MP Raqibul Hussain emerges at the centre of a major political controversy. Former Assam Congress president Bhupen Bora has blamed Hussain for forcing him out of the party.

Bhupen Bora resigned from Congress on February 16. The party leadership tried to stop him and refused to accept his resignation initially. Senior leaders held multiple meetings to persuade him. However, Bora confirmed his decision the next day and announced his move to the BJP.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma later met Bora and said he would formally join the BJP on February 22. Sarma assured Bora of respect and confirmed he would contest future Assembly elections on a BJP ticket.

Bora accused Raqibul Hussain of running the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee like a personal organisation. He claimed Hussain controls ticket distribution and key decisions. Bora even termed the party as “APCC-R,” suggesting it functions under Hussain’s influence.

Raqibul Hussain, a five-time MLA and sitting MP, holds strong political clout. He defeated AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal by a record margin in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The rift has exposed serious leadership struggles within Assam Congress. The fallout now threatens to weaken the party ahead of crucial Assembly elections.

The Pappu Yadav Bihar Congress unrest grew sharper after the party’s heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. Many local leaders blamed state chief Rajesh Ram and in-charge Krishna Allavaru for unfair ticket distribution. On Friday, angry workers gathered at the Congress office in Patna to protest. During this tense moment, MP Pappu Yadav arrived to calm them. He even sat on the floor and tried hard to pacify the crowd, repeating his support for unity. Still, the Pappu Yadav Bihar Congress unrest continued as many refused to listen.

Workers shouted slogans like “Ticket thief, leave the throne!” They were upset that the Grand Alliance won only 35 seats, with Congress getting just six. This poor performance led to a major backlash. The disciplinary committee later issued notices to 43 leaders.

Some leaders also accused Krishna Allavaru of taking money for tickets. Rajesh Ram responded by saying everyone had the right to raise demands, but complaints should be taken to the central leadership. Meanwhile, Bihar Congress Women’s Committee President Sarabat Jahan resigned, deepening the crisis.

After the Grand Alliance’s heavy loss in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Bihar Congress resignations have started across the party. Many leaders blame the leadership for poor planning and unfair ticket distribution. The issue of Bihar Congress resignations has grown after Women’s State President Sarwat Jahan Fatma quit her post on Friday.

Fatma said women received only 8% ticket representation, which deeply disappointed workers. She explained that she served for more than two years and women worked hard at the booth level to raise their voices. Many expected priority in ticket allocation, but it never happened. Fatma also pointed out that former women’s presidents received tickets, but she did not.

Congress contested more than 70 seats as part of the Grand Alliance but won only six. Senior leaders, including state president Rajesh Ram and legislative party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, also lost their seats. This defeat has pushed angry leaders to restart sit-in protests at the Patna office. They demand the resignations of Rajesh Ram and state in-charge Krishna Allavaru, alleging major irregularities in ticket distribution.

Internal pressure is rising, and the party now faces a serious leadership crisis in Bihar.

The Bihar Congress split has become stronger after the 2025 Assembly election results. Many leaders say the state leadership ignored seniors and workers during ticket distribution. They repeated the key phrase Bihar Congress split while calling for a complete change in the party’s Bihar unit.

Several Congress leaders, who openly opposed the leadership earlier, are now more active. They announced a protest at the Sadakat Ashram campus on November 22. These leaders also plan to visit Delhi on November 24 to present their demands. Their main demand is the resignation of Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram.

On Monday, former Khagaria MLA Chhatrapati Yadav held a meeting in Patna. He said the party must start a “Save Congress” campaign. He added that before fighting vote thieves, the party must act against ticket thieves.

Many senior members attended the meeting, including Anand Madhav, Bunty Chaudhary, Ajay Kumar, and others. They claimed that tickets were given unfairly and accused the leadership of bribery. Some even left the party.

After the results, frustration increased because Congress won only six out of 61 seats. Rajesh Ram also lost his own seat by more than 20,000 votes.

A political storm has broken out over the Allavaru row in Bihar Congress. Several party leaders are angry over ticket denials and have accused state in-charge Krishna Allavaru of corruption and misuse of power. They allege he distributed tickets for money, ignoring loyal workers. Former MLA Gajanand Shahi, who narrowly lost the 2020 elections, also protested being denied a ticket. The disgruntled leaders, including Anand Madhav, have planned a protest and fast at the Congress office in Patna.

The group also blamed Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram for misleading party high command and weakening Rahul Gandhi’s position. They submitted their resignations to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, demanding Allavaru’s removal.
