]]> The Congress has set up an election committee in Bihar to prepare for the upcoming Assembly polls. The announcement came on Tuesday (September 16, 2025), just weeks before elections likely in November. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the proposal, giving a fresh push to poll preparations.

The Pradesh Election Committee will handle candidate selection, campaign planning, and the party’s overall strategy. The panel has 39 members. Key leaders include state unit chief Rajesh Ram, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, and Madan Mohan Jha. Other members are Rajesh Rathore, Motilal Sharma, Anshul Avijit, Qaiser Ali Khan, Ramesh Prasad Yadav, Shashi Ranjan, Subodh Mandal, Fauzia Rana, and Khushboo Kumari.

Along with them, Congress has invited MPs, MLAs, MLCs, AICC secretaries, CWC members from Bihar, and heads of frontal organisations as permanent invitees. This move brings a wider section of leaders into the poll strategy.

The Congress election committee in Bihar also aims to strengthen ties with INDIA bloc allies. With the BJP and NDA already in campaign mode, Congress wants to present itself as united and battle-ready.

As the election nears, the committee’s choices on candidates and messaging will decide how strongly the Congress can fight in Bihar. The party hopes this panel will energise its base and improve its chances in the polls.
