The first paragraph highlights the controversy and repeats the key phrase. The issue has created deep worry across Punjab and triggered strong political reactions.

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said the amendment appears designed to detach Chandigarh from Punjab. He said the idea threatens Punjab’s rights and its historic claim over the city. Warring demanded an immediate clarification from the Centre, stressing that people across the state feel anxious about the development.

He warned that the move could create serious repercussions. He called it an ill-advised step that may disturb peace in the region. Warring said Chandigarh belongs to Punjab and that its status cannot be altered through unilateral decisions. He added that the state will strongly resist any attempt to weaken its claim.

Warring also reminded the Centre that the delayed transfer of Chandigarh does not dilute Punjab’s constitutional and emotional connection with the city. He emphasised that Punjabis across party lines stand united on the issue. He said every attempt to change the present arrangement will face unprecedented opposition.

HC Issues Notice Punjab SC Commission Case after the Punjab and Haryana High Court heard a petition filed by Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. The matter relates to Warring’s remarks about the late Union Minister and prominent Dalit leader Sardar Buta Singh. HC Issues Notice Punjab SC Commission Case became the central point of discussion as the court examined the submissions.

Warring approached the court after the Punjab SC/ST Commission initiated proceedings against him. He argued that the Commission acted without proper jurisdiction and that the matter required judicial scrutiny. The High Court took note of his arguments and decided to seek responses from both the Punjab SC/ST Commission and the state government.

During the hearing, the Bench made it clear that it would not interfere with the ongoing process at this stage. However, the court asked the Commission and the state to clarify their positions in writing. The next hearing will take place after the replies are filed.

The controversy began when Warring made certain remarks about Buta Singh, which triggered strong reactions from various Dalit groups. They claimed that his comments disrespected a leader who worked tirelessly for the rights of marginalized communities.

The case now awaits detailed responses that may shape its future course.

Congress leader Manickam Tagore has formally sought clarification from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the alleged OBC quota deficit in Delhi Police recruitment. Tagore said this shortfall raises serious questions about adherence to constitutional provisions and equal opportunity in government hiring.

In a letter to Amit Shah, Tagore expressed concern that recruitment for the Delhi Police fell short of the mandated OBC quota, depriving eligible candidates of their rightful share. He asked for a clear explanation and urged corrective steps to address the deficit.

Tagore stressed that reservation for Other Backward Classes is a constitutional safeguard to ensure fair representation. “OBC reservation is not a privilege — it is a right under the Constitution. The government must ensure compliance in every recruitment exercise,” he said.

The Congress leader pointed out that Delhi Police recruitment plays a critical role in national security and trust in governance. “If the quota deficit continues, it will erode confidence among communities relying on fair recruitment processes,” Tagore warned.

This issue has sparked a wider political debate, with opposition leaders demanding transparency and strict enforcement of reservation rules. They argue that ignoring quotas undermines both fairness and democracy.

Tagore’s demand places pressure on the Home Ministry to issue a detailed response and ensure justice in future recruitments. This case could set a precedent for how reservation policies are implemented in central agencies.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s vote theft charges as “completely baseless.” He challenged the Congress leader to submit a formal affidavit to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to substantiate his claims.

Shinde said elections in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Punjab were fully transparent. He mocked Gandhi, claiming the Congress leader intended to “drop a hydrogen bomb” during his press conference but failed to deliver.

Rahul Gandhi recently accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of protecting those who “destroyed democracy.” He cited data from a Karnataka assembly constituency, claiming votes of Congress supporters were systematically deleted ahead of the 2023 elections. The ECI rejected the allegations, stating no member of the public can delete votes online.

Shinde highlighted that Congress had won in the Aland constituency in Karnataka under the same system Gandhi criticized. He said this proves Gandhi’s claims lack logic. He emphasized that questioning a transparent process without evidence undermines democracy.

The BJP leader warned that spreading unverified claims could create confusion among voters. The political row has intensified, with the Congress demanding Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ resignation. Analysts say the exchange reflects rising tensions ahead of upcoming state and national elections.

Shinde concluded that the focus should remain on governance, development, and public welfare rather than baseless allegations. Citizens, he added, expect accountability from all parties.

BJP leader Dilip Ghosh mocked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his recent allegations of vote theft, saying, “Rahul Gandhi dreams at night and gives statements in the morning.” Ghosh’s sharp remark comes after Rahul Gandhi accused the ruling party of manipulating the electoral process.

The comment has triggered a new political exchange between the BJP and Congress. Rahul Gandhi had recently claimed that the government undermined democracy by engaging in vote theft. He argued that the people of India deserve free and fair elections, free from manipulation or pressure.

Reacting strongly, Dilip Ghosh said the Congress leader was simply trying to stay relevant by making baseless claims. He stated that instead of focusing on vote theft conspiracy theories, Gandhi should explain his party’s plans for development and governance.

The BJP leader further noted that Rahul Gandhi’s repeated allegations damage India’s image internationally. According to him, elections in India remain transparent, and the Congress should introspect about its own failures rather than blaming others.

This fresh political clash highlights the growing tensions as both national parties prepare for upcoming state and national elections. With “Rahul Gandhi dreams at night” becoming a trending phrase, the debate on vote theft is likely to continue.

Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram criticized the GST reform, questioning the government’s delay in rationalizing tax slabs. He welcomed the reduction of rates but asked why it took eight years to correct the structure.

Chidambaram stated that GST reform should have been logical from the start in 2017. He said repeated appeals from the opposition were ignored. According to him, the timing of the move could be linked to slowing growth, rising household debt, shrinking savings, upcoming Bihar elections, or even trade war fears with former US President Donald Trump.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently announced major GST changes at the 56th Council meeting. From September 22, the four-tier GST system will be replaced with two slabs — 5% and 18%. This comes just ahead of Navratri.

As part of the new GST reform, essential items like soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, and talcum powder will now fall under the 5% slab instead of 18%. Everyday goods such as bicycles, utensils, and milk bottles will also become cheaper. Basic food items, life-saving cancer drugs, and health insurance will be fully exempt from GST.
