Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud said people should not underestimate communist parties in India.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Goud said many people believe communist influence has declined in the country. However, he said this belief is wrong.

The Congress Bihar crisis has grown after the party faced a big defeat in the 2025 elections. The Congress won only six seats, much fewer than the 19 seats it won in 2020. This loss created a strong wave of anger inside the party, turning the situation into a serious Congress Bihar crisis.

Many leaders started protests against state president Rajesh Ram, in-charge Krishna Allavaru, and three secretaries. Senior leader Anand Madhav led a sit-in, demanding their removal. Independent MP Pappu Yadav visited the party office during the protest. As he arrived, workers shouted, “Ticket thieves, go back!” He then walked into the president’s room and sat down. State women’s wing chief Sharbat Jahan resigned from her post.

Protesters held posters saying “Ticket Chor Bihar Chhod.” They asked the high command to take responsibility for the defeat. They demanded action against Rajesh Ram and Krishna Allavaru and also asked for an inquiry into Rahul Gandhi’s travel and election expenses. Some leaders accused the party of financial mismanagement.

Anand claimed that people linked to the BJP, RSS, and JDU entered the Congress through middlemen. He said that wrong ticket distribution damaged real candidates. Recently, 43 leaders received show-cause notices, which increased the anger and led to more chaos at the party office.

A political storm has broken out over the Allavaru row in Bihar Congress. Several party leaders are angry over ticket denials and have accused state in-charge Krishna Allavaru of corruption and misuse of power. They allege he distributed tickets for money, ignoring loyal workers. Former MLA Gajanand Shahi, who narrowly lost the 2020 elections, also protested being denied a ticket. The disgruntled leaders, including Anand Madhav, have planned a protest and fast at the Congress office in Patna.

The group also blamed Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram for misleading party high command and weakening Rahul Gandhi’s position. They submitted their resignations to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, demanding Allavaru’s removal. The Allavaru row in Bihar Congress has now deepened the internal crisis ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi will attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna on September 24, AICC Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru confirmed on Monday. Their presence highlights Congress’ focus on Bihar ahead of the Assembly polls later this year.

During a press conference, Mr. Allavaru said Congress is fighting “the second war of Independence” in Bihar. He explained that this is why the party chose Patna for the CWC meeting. All other CWC members, including chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, have also been invited.

Mr. Allavaru accused the BJP-led central government of “vote theft” and described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “like a student who does not study hard but uses unfair means to succeed.” He noted that Bihar, where Mr. Gandhi recently completed the 1,300-km ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ has become “the centre of national politics.”

On alliance talks, Mr. Allavaru said seat-sharing discussions within the INDIA bloc are progressing positively. Regarding the chief ministerial candidate for the INDIA bloc, he added that all alliance partners will decide collectively at an appropriate time.

The CWC meeting in Patna aims to finalize strategies and strengthen the party’s coordination in Bihar. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge’s attendance signals Congress’ commitment to securing a strong position in the state ahead of the upcoming elections.

The incident happened when Gandhi tried to reach Toor, a border village across the Ravi river.

Earlier, he met affected families in Ghonewal and Gurchak villages of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts. When police stopped him from crossing the river, Gandhi questioned their decision. A viral video showed him asking: “You are telling me you cannot keep me safe on Indian territory? Is it not India?”

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa accompanied him. Gandhi argued that the Leader of Opposition should not be stopped from meeting his people.

The restriction sparked strong reactions in the Congress camp. Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi called it “unfortunate.” Warring asked if Indians were unsafe even on their own soil. Senior leader Partap Singh Bajwa accused the AAP government of using “political excuses” to avoid accountability.

Congress leaders also criticized both AAP and BJP for ignoring border villagers. They said flood victims need support, not excuses.

The episode has turned into a political controversy, highlighting anger over poor relief efforts in flood-hit Punjab.

The Congress leader was accompanied by Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, and other party leaders. After arriving in Amritsar, he headed to Ghonewal village in Ajnala, where he interacted with flood-affected people and listened to their concerns about property and livelihood losses.

After visiting Ghonewal village, Rahul Gandhi will pay obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib in Ramdas area. He will also tour flood-hit areas in Gurdaspur district to meet locals and monitor relief efforts firsthand.

Punjab has suffered one of its worst flood disasters in decades. Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir swelled the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, causing widespread flooding. The current death toll stands at 56, while floods damaged crops on nearly 1.98 lakh hectares. Authorities continue to coordinate rescue and relief operations across affected districts.
