Local body elections in Telangana have turned intense after the first phase of Sarpanch results. Although the ruling Congress secured the highest number of seats, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi also won a significant share. Therefore, leaders from both parties have gone on alert. Congress leaders have now focused sharply on the second and third phases of polling scheduled for later this month.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders have begun holding discussions with local representatives in polling areas. They believe stronger coordination can help the party win more seats. With only one day left for the second phase, leaders have urged cadres to work harder at the ground level. At the same time, party leadership has stressed discipline and unity to avoid internal damage.

On the other hand, BRS leaders have also reviewed their performance closely. They feel better mobilization could have improved results in the first phase. As a result, the party has intensified efforts in upcoming phases. Both parties now aim to maximize their seat count and strengthen village-level influence.

Interestingly, several MLAs failed to secure wins in their own villages despite winning large constituencies earlier. This trend has triggered political debate across the state. Analysts say local dynamics differ from state politics. In total, Congress won 2,864 villages, BRS secured 1,143, BJP won 185, and others took 43 seats.

The first phase of Gram Panchayat elections in the united Palamuru district concluded on Thursday. Congress-backed candidates gained an overall edge across several mandals. However, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi delivered an unexpected and strong challenge. The results reflected mixed voter sentiment across constituencies.

In Kodangal constituency, represented by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Congress candidates dominated the polls. Across Maddur, Kosgi, Kothapally, and Gundumal mandals, Congress secured 52 of 67 seats. The remaining seats were won by other candidates. This outcome strengthened Congress’s position in the Chief Minister’s constituency.

In Mahabubnagar district, results remained evenly balanced in some mandals. Mahabubnagar Rural mandal saw Congress and BRS win 12 seats each. Meanwhile, Congress maintained an advantage in Mohammadabad and Gandeed mandals. These results highlighted close competition between the two parties.

Jadcherla constituency delivered a major setback to the ruling party. In Rajapur mandal, BRS won 17 seats, while Congress secured only four. Notably, the Congress candidate lost in the MLA’s native village Rangareddygudem. Overall, the first phase results favored Congress, but BRS emerged stronger than expected.

Former Telangana Minister T. Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, questioning police actions before the Jubilee Hills by-election. Speaking at a community event in Erragadda, he asked why police bind over only rowdies if the Congress claims to act fairly.

Harish Rao said the Jubilee Hills election is a fight between a “Lady and a Rowdy,” referring to BRS candidate Sunitha and her rival. He asked why Naveen Yadav’s family members were bound over if they were not rowdies. He asserted that Sunitha represents not just herself but also KCR and the entire BRS party. According to him, a BRS victory would force the Congress to rethink its anti-people policies.

He accused the Congress of neglecting Hyderabad’s development. Harish Rao noted that the BRS government built 43 flyovers, while the Congress failed to lay even a small road in two years. He reminded people that Mission Bhagiratha inspired the central government’s Har Ghar Jal scheme, which still remains incomplete after eight years.

Continuing his criticism, Harish Rao alleged large-scale corruption under the Congress rule. He claimed that real estate collapsed because of high commissions demanded by the Chief Minister. He said the government is collecting 30% commissions for construction and land approvals, which is scaring investors and damaging Hyderabad’s growth.

The political landscape in Telangana is buzzing with speculation as Telangana Jagruthi president Kavitha Kalvakuntla , daughter of Chief Minister KCR, shifts focus from her BRS affiliation to her future political activities. Recent meetings with senior political figures have fueled rumors, including a two-hour discussion with former Jubilee Hills MLA P. Vishnuvaradhan Reddy and, more recently, former Congress MLC Aamir Ali Khan.

Kavitha’s potential candidacy in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election has added further intrigue to the situation , with key leaders showing interest in her future plans.

Aamir Ali Khan, who was controversially removed from his MLC post due to a legal challenge by the BRS , is reportedly seeking a political alliance. Following his removal, the Congress government appointed former MP Mohammed Azharuddin in Khan’s plac e, further intensifying the political drama surrounding Kavitha’s interactions . This has sparked new debates about alliances and rivalries in Telangana’s shifting political environment.

Devarakadra Congress MLA Madhusudhan Reddy launched a sharp attack on BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) during his visit to Gadwal today. Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy said he felt pity for KTR, who is unable to stay at home or even relax on his farm, and is now roaming districts to escape pressure.

Reddy alleged that KTR is struggling with family and political battles, including sister Kavitha’s legal troubles, brother-in-law Harish Rao’s challenges, and father KCR’s criticism. With BRS leaders and workers scattered, KTR has been forced to tour districts, though Reddy argued these visits serve no purpose except wasting diesel.

The Congress MLA claimed that corruption and failure have destroyed the credibility of BRS in Telangana. He said people have lost faith in the party, dismissing its meetings as mere stunts for social media. Reddy accused BRS of neglecting key projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy, Tummadihatti, and Jurala, while pointing out that the Congress government has begun constructing a new ₹120 crore bridge at Jurala.

Calling BRS leaders “Bakasaura rulers” who swallowed the Constitution, democracy, and opposition voices for ten years, Reddy declared that Telangana no longer needs the party. He asserted that Palamuru’s son has now become Chief Minister, fulfilling people’s aspirations.

Hyderabad, September 9: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) firmly denied that his party functions as a “B-Team” for any national party. He issued this clarification after Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized BRS and BJD on social media platform X ahead of the Vice President election.

Ramesh claimed that both parties had supported the BJP in Parliament over the past decade and were now skipping the Vice President poll. He questioned the political consequences of their decision, suggesting that it reflected silent backing of the ruling party.

KTR countered sharply, accusing Congress of arrogance. “This attitude is exactly why Congress keeps failing in modern politics,” he said. He warned the party against pushing the argument of “with us or against us,” which, he stressed, weakens democratic debate.

Emphasizing BRS’s independent stance, KTR declared, “We are not Congress’s ally or BJP’s B-Team. We are Telangana’s A-Team.” He urged Congress to stop targeting BRS and instead fix its own shortcomings. His remarks underline BRS’s position as a regional force with a people-first approach, separate from the power struggles of national parties.

Rama Rao (KTR) raised sharp questions at the Congress leadership , specifically targeting Rahul Gandhi’s understanding of the state government’s actions. Responding to ongoing allegations and political pressure, KTR asserted that the Telangana government would fight any conspiracies against it within the legal framework, expressing full confidence in the judicial system.

Highlighting the Kaleshwaram irrigation project controversy, KTR noted that the state government decided to hand over the case to the CBI , contrary to earlier claims by Rahul Gandhi, who had previously described the CBI as a “ BJP opposition elimination cell. ” KTR questioned, “ Mr. Gandhi, do you even know what your Chief Minister is doing?” pointing to perceived misinformation and misinterpretation by the Congress leadership regarding Telangana’s governance and administrative decisions.

The IT Minister’s remarks underline the growing political tension between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Congress party , as well as the scrutiny over handling high-profile corruption investigations in the state.

He argued that KCR and former minister KTR exaggerate achievements, even suggesting that people began eating three meals a day only after KCR took office. Reddy mocked claims that Hyderabad’s growth was “discovered” under KCR.

He said the previous BRS government delivered little, pointing out that its major visible projects were just four flyovers and a selfie point in Hyderabad. According to him, KCR used such small projects to glorify himself while ignoring larger development needs.

The Congress leader’s comments add fuel to the ongoing political battle over Telangana’s progress. He stressed that real development should come through meaningful projects that improve daily life. The exchange highlights the sharp rivalry between Congress and BRS as the state moves closer to elections.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to convene the Assembly from August 30 for a five-day session. A key highlight will be the tabling of the Justice P. Chandraghosh Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Advocate General Sudarshan Reddy informed the High Court that the report would be presented in the House, followed by action against those responsible.

The move is expected to trigger intense debate between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS. Political observers predict sharp exchanges as both parties prepare to defend their positions on the controversial project. The session is likely to become a battleground over corruption charges and accountability.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ex-minister Harish Rao have petitioned the High Court to quash the Chandraghosh report. On Friday, the bench heard arguments from both sides. The state government assured the court that decisions will follow only after Assembly discussions.

The High Court directed the government to withdraw the report if it had been uploaded online and to file a detailed counter within three weeks. It also declined to grant interim relief and adjourned the matter for five weeks.

Seethakka mocked KTR by saying that he could not even manage differences within his own family. “When even his sister is opposing him, his mind has become disturbed, and that is why he is making such senseless remarks,” she said.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar also took a dig at KTR, questioning BRS’s alleged ties with the BJP. He said that the real face of BRS would be revealed on September 9.

Prabhakar further challenged KTR to make his party’s stand clear during the upcoming Vice President elections. “Will you support a Telugu leader or not? The people deserve to know the truth,” he asked.
