Rahul Mamkootathil, Kerala Youth Congress president and MLA from Palakkad constituency, was suspended from the party. The actress, Rini Jaya, revealed in an interview that for the past three years, a national party MLA had been harassing her with repeated advances.

She alleged that the MLA sent obscene messages on Telegram and WhatsApp, invited her to hotel rooms, and increased harassment after she refused. Although Rini Jaya did not directly mention his name, opposition parties like BJP and CPM claimed the MLA was Rahul. Protests broke out demanding his resignation from the Assembly seat.

Under pressure, Rahul stepped down from his Youth Congress president post. However, he denied the charges, saying Rini was his friend and the accusations were false. Still, anger grew among the public as the actress did not withdraw her claims. The Congress high command finally suspended Rahul, showing the party could not ignore the widespread outrage.

This incident has now become a major political controversy in Kerala.
