In Madanapalle market, the price of tomatoes has plunged to just ₹5 per kilogram, leaving farmers shocked. The situation is worse in Pattikonda, Kurnool district, where prices have dropped below ₹2 per kilogram, causing heavy losses. Farmers complain that they cannot even cover their transport expenses at these rates.

Two days ago, Pyapili market in Nandyal district witnessed a similar trend. First-grade tomatoes were sold at ₹10 per kilogram, while medium-grade tomatoes fetched only ₹3. With prices falling sharply, farmers say their hard work and investment have gone in vain.

Many cultivators expressed fear of mounting debts, urging the state government to step in immediately. They appealed for financial support and price stabilization measures to safeguard their livelihood. Without intervention, thousands of farmers may face bankruptcy due to the steep crash in tomato prices.
