In Ecuador, he will review preparations to open a resident Indian Mission in Quito — a major step in India’s diplomatic outreach. His visit to Bolivia will include representing India at the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected President Rodrigo Paz Pereira on November 8 in La Paz.

Cuba will be the final stop on his tour. There, discussions will focus on collaborations in health, medicine, and digital public infrastructure. Margherita will also meet business leaders and members of the Indian diaspora to promote mutual partnerships.

According to the MEA, the visit underscores India’s commitment to South–South cooperation and deeper engagement with developing nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently congratulated President-elect Rodrigo Paz Pereira and expressed hopes to further strengthen India–Bolivia relations. The two nations already share strong ties in minerals, IT, and health, along with growing cooperation in capacity building and development assistance.

Eighteen nations participated in the meeting, including Singapore, Indonesia, Nigeria, Cuba, Chad, Jamaica, Vietnam, Mauritius, and Morocco. The forum aimed to strengthen India’s position as a key voice of the Global South. Maldives’ Foreign Minister highlighted that unity and collective action are central to the region’s power.

Jaishankar suggested focusing on climate action, Security Council reform, and development financing. He encouraged sharing expertise in vaccines, digital capabilities, education, agriculture, and small and medium enterprises to benefit fellow Global South nations. Participants agreed to promote inclusive growth and resilient development pathways.

Looking ahead, Jaishankar urged countries to explore emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. He also called for joint diplomatic and political efforts to reform the UN and multilateral institutions. Using existing platforms, he emphasized building solidarity and cooperation to enhance the Global South’s global influence.
