Buddhists from 26 countries arrived in Vaishali spreading the message of peace and friendship on Monday. Monks and nuns from countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal walked through village paths, sharing compassion and harmony with locals. The event brought a spiritual atmosphere to the historic district.

The morning began with a Dharm Jagran Prabhat Pheri procession from Kolhua to Bakhra village. Participants carried messages of peace and friendship, engaging villagers along the way. The procession symbolized unity among Buddhists worldwide.

After the march, the group reached Mahaprajapati Gautami Tila. They paid respects to an ancient banyan tree and performed rituals. A statue of Lord Buddha was installed, followed by collective meditation and prayers. Monks also highlighted Mahaprajapati Gautami’s contribution to Buddhism, especially women’s role in the Sangha.

Organizers honored the visiting monks and nuns with Buddha statues, robes, and keepsakes. Cultural officers, local thinkers, and villagers attended. The event reinforced Vaishali’s importance as a center for Buddhist heritage and global peace.

The Embassy of India in Israel inaugurated a ‘Bharat Corner’ at Ironi Yud Dalet High School in Tel Aviv. This initiative aims to strengthen engagement between Israeli youth and India. It offers students access to books, resources, and materials about Indian culture, history, and heritage.

The inauguration ceremony included a special tribute to Mahatma Gandhi ahead of his birth anniversary. The event featured a lecture on Gandhian values, emphasizing their relevance today. Dr. Lauren Dagen delivered the talk, highlighting Gandhi’s philosophy and its continued importance in fostering peace, understanding, and cooperation.

This project forms part of a larger effort by the Indian Embassy to promote cultural and educational exchange. Similar ‘India Corners’ already exist in various schools and institutions across Israel. These corners help students explore Indian traditions, arts, literature, and history. They also build cultural bridges between the two nations.

Additionally, the ‘Bharat Corner’ will serve as a platform for interactive activities. Students can participate in discussions, cultural workshops, and events that deepen their knowledge of India. Teachers will use these materials to enhance lessons, making cultural education engaging and meaningful.

The Embassy hopes this initiative will foster curiosity and respect among Israeli youth toward Indian culture. By giving students direct access to authentic Indian resources, the initiative aims to build lasting connections and mutual understanding.

In conclusion, the Bharat Corner will not only enrich students’ learning experiences but also strengthen India–Israel ties. It reflects India’s commitment to promoting global cultural understanding and inspiring young minds to embrace diversity, peace, and friendship.
