Sitamau Literary Festival Begins with a spectacular opening ceremony in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district. The second edition of the Sitamau Literary Festival started on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and cultural pride. The event aims to take the region’s literary and cultural heritage to new heights.

The opening ceremony took place at the Sevakunj complex near Laduna Talab. The moment turned magical when organisers released 1,000 sky lanterns together. The illuminated sky created a breathtaking view. Fireworks added colour and energy to the evening. The atmosphere reflected celebration, creativity, and tradition.

The main festival will take place on January 29, 30, and 31 in Sitamau town. Renowned writers, artists, philosophers, and cultural thinkers from across the country will attend. The three-day festival will host engaging sessions on literature, art, and philosophy. Experts will share ideas through discussions, readings, and interactive dialogues.

A special children’s fair also marked the opening day. Students from several schools set up creative stalls. They sold pani puri, fruit chaat, mehndi designs, and paintings. Mandsaur Collector Aditi Garg visited the stalls. She praised the children’s creativity and encouraged their efforts.

Organisers believe the festival will strengthen Sitamau’s cultural identity. The event promises learning, inspiration, and celebration for all age groups.

The International Arunachal Rang Mahotsav entered its ninth day in Itanagar with powerful performances by renowned artists including Shekhar Suman and Ill Arun. The third edition of the festival, which opened with 32 plays from India and abroad, will conclude on December 6, marking a major cultural moment for Northeast theatre.

A major highlight was “OLA OLA,” a Mishmi community play performed by 18 young artists from Anjaw. The production brought to life three Mishmi folk tales — the conflict between Hutung and Kesha Kama, the story of the first ritual, and the tale of a mermaid whose gift inspired traditional textile patterns.

Directed by NSD alumnus Oasis Sougaijam, the play displayed the depth and vibrancy of Mishmi heritage. Sokhep Kri, Director of Indigenous Affairs, praised its seamless blending of stories rooted in agriculture, rituals, and the battle between gods and demons.

Social influencer Sita Samnam portrayed the mermaid and thanked Minister Dasanglu Pul for supporting the cast and logistics.
The festival continues to promote indigenous art while fostering cultural exchange at national and global levels.
