Police busted the gang after a long investigation and arrested several accused from different districts.

The accused targeted bank customers at ATM booths. They trapped ATM cards using glue and secretly collected PIN details. Later, they withdrew money or transferred funds to other accounts. The gang also used gaming apps to move money quickly and avoid detection.

Police said the group operated in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Vaishali, Bettiah, and other areas. Some members helped open bank accounts using fake documents. Others handled cash withdrawal and online transfers.

During raids, police recovered 55 ATM cards, 23 mobile phones, 11 passbooks, checkbooks, SIM cards, cash, and two cars. Investigators found transaction records worth around Rs 55 crore in multiple accounts.

Officials also detected links to foreign transactions and cryptocurrency transfers. Central agencies have been informed for deeper investigation.

Police identified Saurabh Dwivedi from Bettiah as the mastermind. More arrests are expected as the probe continues. Authorities warned people to stay alert while using ATMs and online apps.

A massive digital arrest scam has come to light in Bihar, where cyber criminals cheated people of nearly ₹7 crore. The digital arrest scam was uncovered after police noticed large and suspicious withdrawals from a bank account linked to the fraud.

The cyber crime unit of Motihari traced the scam while monitoring financial transactions. One account alone received ₹1.49 crore in a short time. The money was quickly withdrawn, raising red flags for investigators.

Police found that fraudsters posed as officials and scared victims with fake legal threats. They claimed the victims were under “digital arrest” and demanded money to avoid action. Some victims were also trapped with false promises of fixing credit scores.

Based on technical tracking and bank details, police arrested three accused from East Champaran and Sitamarhi districts. Raids were conducted in several districts, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Sitamarhi.

Officials said more arrests are likely as the investigation continues. Police warned people not to trust calls demanding money or personal details. Citizens were advised to report cyber fraud immediately by calling the 1930 helpline.

Cybercrime Bank Responsibility is now a major concern in India. Recent cases show that criminals easily move money, and this raises questions about how safely banks handle customer accounts. In this case, Cybercrime Bank Responsibility becomes even more important because criminals withdrew money twice without facing any checks.

A female professor from TMBU, Bhagalpur, lost ₹47.60 lakh in an online fraud. During the investigation, police found that employees of a big private bank in Rajasthan helped the criminals. Shockingly, the fraudsters withdrew ₹33 lakh in one attempt. This discovery forced the police to look deeper into bank involvement.

Police teams are now questioning multiple employees. Officers plan to inform RBI and speak with senior officials of the private bank. The link between bank staff and criminals has made the case stronger.

Normally, banks confirm big withdrawals of ₹5 lakh or more by calling the account holder. But here, the employee only made a short call to the registered number for a few seconds and still allowed the withdrawal. The rule became a formality, and the money was released without proper confirmation. This raised serious doubts about employee cooperation in the fraud.

Cybercrimes reported across the Telugu states in recent weeks have caused concern among users. Hundreds of WhatsApp groups were targeted by cyber offenders in the last month. Fake groups named “Team SBI” were created, and users were approached with false KYC update messages. APK files were sent to many users, and they were instructed to install them.

Once these files were installed, full control of the victims’ mobile phones was gained by the criminals. Several bank accounts were accessed illegally through these compromised devices. Officials revealed these details during ongoing investigations. Citizens were warned to stay alert while interacting with unknown messages.

New fraud attempts were also reported through fake Aadhaar update messages. Victims were threatened with statements like, “Your account will be blocked tonight,” and were forced to click suspicious links. After the links were opened, complete mobile access was reportedly obtained by the scammers.

Many complaints were filed with the 1930 Cyber Helpline and local police stations. Experts advised that bank updates should be done only through official websites or branches. Authorities urged users to avoid opening APK files in WhatsApp groups, as most recent cybercrimes involved such malicious files.
