Kaushik demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announce ₹25,000 per acre for paddy and ₹50,000 for cotton.

On Saturday, he visited Jupaka and Rampur villages to meet farmers who lost their crops. He said about 30,000 acres were damaged in Huzurabad, but officials reported only 825 acres. Kaushik called the ₹10,000 relief per farmer an insult and accused the government of ignoring the ground reality.

He urged agriculture officers to visit every affected village and submit factual reports. Kaushik warned that he would inspect the areas personally if officials failed. He demanded quick action on Congress manifesto promises like farm loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, and aid for unemployed youth.

Severe Cyclone Montha crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast near Narsapur early Wednesday, causing widespread destruction and claiming two lives. Strong winds uprooted trees and power poles, while torrential rains flooded several villages, roads, and low-lying areas across coastal districts. Vehicular movement was severely disrupted as streams and lakes overflowed.

Teams from the NDRF and SDRF began clearing fallen trees and restoring power supply in affected regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the cyclone weakened into a deep depression while moving towards Telangana and south Chhattisgarh. Paddy fields in Konaseema district suffered major losses, with around 20,000 acres of crops destroyed.

Flooding in Vijayawada and Nandyal submerged roads and houses, halting traffic. The Srisailam ghat road was closed after landslides, while in Bapatla district, 20 people trapped in floodwaters were rescued. Authorities evacuated 200 workers from the Veligonda project tunnels as floodwater entered the site.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Udelarevu in Konaseema for an aerial survey and review. The government announced ₹1,000 financial aid for affected individuals in relief camps, along with free essential commodities for displaced families.

The state government remains on high alert and is closely monitoring the evolving situation as the storm nears landfall.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan held a review meeting with senior officials to assess the cyclone’s impact. He received updates from district collectors of Konaseema, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati, where heavy rainfall and gusty winds have caused widespread damage.

Kalyan directed officials to restore electricity in areas where power lines and poles were damaged by fallen trees. He urged residents to stay indoors and move to safer shelters, stressing that even though the cyclone is weakening, heavy rains still pose risks. The Deputy CM also instructed officials to ensure proper food and shelter for people in rehabilitation centres.

He further warned of rising water levels in the Gundlakamma River in Prakasam and the Penna River in Nellore. After rainfall subsides, Kalyan emphasized immediate sanitation and clean drinking water measures to prevent post-cyclone health issues.
