Rabies notifiable disease Delhi is likely to become a reality soon, with the Delhi government planning to officially declare rabies a notifiable disease, a city minister said on Monday. The move aims to strengthen surveillance, reporting, and prevention of the fatal viral infection.

Speaking at a public health-related event, the minister said mandatory reporting of rabies cases will help authorities collect accurate data and respond more effectively. Once notified, all government and private hospitals will have to report suspected and confirmed rabies cases to health authorities.

The minister said rabies remains a serious public health concern in Delhi, largely due to dog bites and delayed medical treatment. He added that early reporting and coordinated action can help reduce fatalities, as rabies is preventable with timely vaccination and medical care.

Officials said the proposal is in the final stages and will be implemented soon after completing procedural formalities. Health department officials are also working on guidelines to ensure smooth reporting and data sharing across healthcare facilities.

The minister said the government is focusing on awareness, vaccination, and better management of animal bites. He urged people to seek immediate medical attention after animal bites and complete the full course of anti-rabies vaccination.

Public health experts welcomed the move and said declaring rabies a notifiable disease would improve monitoring and policy planning. They said accurate data would help target high-risk areas and strengthen animal control measures.

According to health officials, many rabies cases go unreported, which affects response planning. Mandatory notification is expected to bridge this gap and support long-term prevention strategies.

The minister said the Delhi government remains committed to improving public health systems. He added that declaring rabies a notifiable disease will help save lives and strengthen the city’s disease surveillance framework.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has granted a tax-free status to Farhan Akhtar’s new war drama 120 Bahadur. The film celebrates the courage of Charlie Company during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. With this exemption, the Delhi government aims to help more people watch the film and understand this historic battle.

Rekha Gupta said the movie highlights the spirit of Indian soldiers who fought against overwhelming odds. She praised the actors for their powerful performances. In particular, she appreciated the portrayal of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who led his men with fearless determination. His sacrifice, she said, continues to inspire the nation.

The Chief Minister added that films based on national bravery deserve strong public support. Therefore, she decided to waive the state tax so families, students, and youth can experience the story at an affordable cost. She said such movies carry important lessons and must reach a wider audience.

120 Bahadur, produced by Farhan Akhtar, offers a gripping look at the battleground. The film shows how Charlie Company defended India despite harsh terrain and limited resources. Through its storytelling, the movie captures the emotions, challenges, and sacrifices of the regiment.

Because of the tax exemption, ticket prices in Delhi will come down. As a result, theatres expect higher footfall. Many defence veterans also welcomed the decision, saying the film brings long-overdue attention to a heroic chapter of Indian history.

Overall, the Delhi government hopes the move will encourage young people to learn more about the bravery of India’s soldiers. The film will release soon, and its message of courage and patriotism is already drawing attention.

Delhi’s metro map is set to change after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially announced the renaming of three metro stations on November 16. Addressing a gathering in Haiderpur village in northwest Delhi, the CM said the decision was taken to reflect local identity and make navigation easier for commuters.

As per the new naming list, Pitampura Metro Station has now been renamed Madhuban Chowk Metro Station. The upcoming station near VIPS College will be called Haiderpur Metro Station, while the proposed northern Pitampura station in Q-Block will now be named Uttari Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station.

Gupta said the government considered local sentiments before finalising the names. Residents of Haiderpur had been demanding that the metro station reflect their village name, stating that the land originally belonged to them. The CM confirmed that their demand has now been recognised officially.

The announcement coincided with the arrival of the Rezang La Shaheed Raj Kalash Yatra in Haiderpur, turning the event into an emotional tribute to Indian Army martyrs. Gupta paid respects to the urn and said the village was blessed to host the sacred procession honouring Rezang La heroes.

During her address, the Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in the region, including the widening of Max Hospital Road and the construction of a new underpass. These initiatives, she said, will significantly improve traffic flow and support long-term development.

“Our government is committed to ensuring overall growth and better connectivity for this region,” she added.

The decision came after the Delhi government requested approval to use certified green crackers for Diwali celebrations.

Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran directed patrolling teams to check that only QR-coded green crackers are sold. People can burst them between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. The court also banned online sales and warned that violators will face notices.

Earlier, the court noted that short-term bans on crackers were ineffective. It said citizens have the right to live in a clean and pollution-free environment under Article 21 of the Constitution. The bench emphasized that only crackers with minimal pollution can be allowed.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that sales will happen only through licensed traders.
