The achievement has brought global recognition to Himachal’s rich textile heritage and traditional weaving skills. Local artisans showcased shawls made using age-old techniques, reflecting the cultural diversity of different regions of the state.

The HIM Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) organised the exhibition, with support from the Department of Industries. The event aimed to promote local products and strengthen livelihood opportunities for traditional craftsmen. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the exhibition and praised the artisans for preserving Himachal’s cultural identity.

Officials said the record will help boost demand for Himachali shawls in national and international markets. The display also highlighted the economic potential of handicrafts under the state’s MSME initiatives.

Artisans expressed pride in seeing their collective work gain global recognition. Many said the record would encourage younger generations to learn traditional weaving skills.

The Guinness World Record achievement marks a major milestone for Himachal’s handicraft sector and reinforces the state’s position as a hub of high-quality handmade textiles.
