Punjab Police struck a major blow against drug trafficking by seizing nearly 20 kg of heroin and arresting four accused, including the key operative managing the supply chain. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force carried out the operation in coordination with the Border Security Force. Together, they targeted trans-border smuggling networks across the state.

According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, investigators discovered that the main operative maintains links with Pakistan-based handlers. He coordinated heroin deliveries and oversaw distribution in multiple districts. This arrest demonstrates the police’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and protecting public safety.

“Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act. We are identifying cross-border handlers, tracing supply routes, and dismantling the entire network,” DGP Yadav said on X (formerly Twitter).

Authorities are now interrogating the arrested suspects and examining all seized evidence. They are also working with intelligence agencies to track additional members of the smuggling network. This investigation highlights the ongoing challenge of preventing narcotics trafficking in border areas.

Moreover, the operation sends a strong warning to criminal networks attempting to exploit Punjab as a transit hub. Officials confirmed that they will pursue strict legal action against everyone involved. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to assist law enforcement efforts.

Finally, the police emphasized that they will continue coordinated operations with central agencies to disrupt drug networks. With active monitoring, seizures, and arrests, Punjab authorities aim to reduce illegal drug circulation and ensure safer communities across the state.

Police confirmed the 50kg Ganja Seized Ganjam case after spotting a four-wheeler carrying two large sacks of ganja. Officers from Ganjam police and the excise department acted on a tip-off, reached State Highway-17, and intercepted the vehicle before it moved further.

Authorities identified the accused as Bibhuti Nayak from Tikabali and Dushmant Kahar from Phiringia in Kandhamal. Both men allegedly transported the consignment toward Bhubaneswar. Officers estimated the value of the seized ganja at nearly ₹5 lakh. The team checked the vehicle after noticing a sudden diversion, which increased suspicion. Their search confirmed 50 kilograms of dry cannabis stored inside the car.

Excise SI Aliva Majhi said the men planned to deliver the substance to Aska. Police detained both on the spot and informed senior officials. The excise department later produced the accused in court and began tracing their network.

Local residents praised the swift action, saying frequent patrolling helps curb drug trafficking in the region.

A major narcotics case has surfaced in Tripura after Teliamura Police arrested two individuals allegedly associated with the TIPRA Motha party, and seized 17.900 kilograms of illegal cannabis (ganja) from Trishabari Railway Station under Khowai district. Acting on confidential intelligence, a special police operation was carried out on Monday, November 17, 2025, resulting in the detention of the suspects before they could transport the narcotics to another state through Agartala railway route.

According to police sources, the accused were caught with well-packed bags of dry cannabis that carried an estimated black-market value of over ₹3 lakh. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shyamal Debbarma and Santosh Debbarma, reportedly hailing from Radhapur and Mandai areas. Both individuals were detained at the station premises while attempting to move the consignment illegally.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and legal procedures, including interrogation and evidence documentation, are underway. Authorities believe the suspects may be part of a wider smuggling network operating through railway routes to avoid checkpoints and highway surveillance.

The incident takes a political turn as one of the accused, Santosh Debbarma, is claimed to be an active TIPRA Motha leader with known proximity to senior party figures. Reports suggest that he was politically nurtured under the patronage of a party MDC, raising questions and triggering sharp debate around political affiliations and criminal activities.

Local residents expressed concern, noting that Trishabari Railway Station has increasingly become a hotspot for illegal narcotics movement. Police assured that surveillance, patrolling, and intelligence tracking will be further strengthened to curb drug-related crime in the region.

Chennai Bureau: The Central Government has directed all states to tighten action against the rising drug menace in India. Following these instructions, customs and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials intensified checks at airports and ports across the country. Suspicious baggage and containers are being scanned thoroughly to stop smuggling attempts.

On Tuesday night, NCB and customs officers conducted a special inspection at Chennai airport based on intelligence inputs. During the operation, they intercepted two Ethiopian Airlines passengers who arrived from Addis Ababa. A total of 5.6 kilograms of cocaine was recovered from their luggage.

The smuggling method shocked authorities. The cocaine was cleverly packed inside capsules that resembled shiny international-brand chocolates. These capsules were stored in golden boxes to avoid suspicion during routine baggage checks. Officials noted the high level of planning involved in this concealment technique.

The arrested passengers were identified as Himanshu Shah (25) from Bageshwar district, Uttarakhand, and Sahil Atri (26) from Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. In addition, a Nigerian national has also been detained in connection with the case. The seized cocaine is estimated to be worth ₹60 crore in the open market, officials confirmed.
