A Former Constable Caught Smuggling Ganja case has created a stir in Hyderabad after police seized 145 kilograms of ganja during a major operation. The accused, identified as former CISF constable Shivakrishna, was arrested while allegedly transporting the narcotics from Odisha to Maharashtra. Authorities shifted him to judicial remand following the arrest.

The Former Constable Caught Smuggling Ganja incident has drawn attention because this is reportedly not his first involvement in such activities. According to police officials, Shivakrishna previously worked as a CISF constable but later became involved in illegal ganja trafficking.

Task Force DCP Vaibhav Raghunath said the accused had already been caught in ganja-smuggling cases on two earlier occasions. Those cases reportedly led to his suspension from service. Despite previous action, he allegedly continued the illegal trade and was caught for a third time.

Police believe the seizure will help disrupt a larger drug transportation network operating across multiple states. Investigators are now examining possible links to other members of the smuggling chain.

A major heroin seizure in Bihar has exposed an interstate drug network operating between Assam and Bihar. Police recovered drugs worth around ₹90 lakh from Patna and Darbhanga in a joint operation.

The heroin seizure in Bihar took place after the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and police acted on a tip-off. Officials raided locations in Darbhanga and Patna’s Shahpur area, leading to the arrest of five accused.

In Darbhanga, police caught three suspects with about 228 grams of heroin. Based on their inputs, another raid in Patna led to the arrest of two brothers. Authorities recovered 117 grams of heroin, along with a vehicle, mobile phones, and gold items.

Investigators said the drugs were supplied from Silchar in Assam through a network run by a supplier currently based in Guwahati. The accused were distributing drugs across multiple states.

Police have registered cases and are now tracking other members of the network.

Patna police have busted a drug trafficking gang operating in the Kankarbagh area. Police said the drug trafficking gang had been selling drug injections to students and young people near a coaching centre. Three people — Amarjeet Kumar, Sonam Devi, and Ravi Paswan — were arrested. All of them are residents of the Ramakrishna Nagar slum.

Police recovered 151 drug injections from the accused. Officers said the group was linked to earlier arrested smugglers. The arrests were made after a raid near Kankarbagh Sai Temple on December 8.

During questioning, the accused revealed that they bought the injections from a local dealer. Police are searching for him. They also admitted they had been selling drugs for six months and mainly targeted students.

In October, police had arrested seven more members of the same network from Kankarbagh and Patna City. Over 16,000 drug injections and 76,000 sleeping pills were seized at that time.

Police have urged parents to stay alert. Drug use can cause serious health problems and harm a child’s mental and physical development.

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has exposed a major Mizoram narcotics money laundering network operating across several Indian states and the Indo–Myanmar border. The breakthrough came after coordinated searches on November 27 in Aizawl and Champhai in Mizoram, Sribhumi in Karimganj (Assam), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat), following an FIR under the NDPS Act involving the seizure of 4.724 kg of heroin worth ₹1.41 crore and the arrest of nine individuals.

According to the ED, financial scrutiny revealed a sophisticated supply chain linking Mizoram-based operatives to Gujarat firms, including Krishiv Enterprises, which allegedly supplied pseudoephedrine tablets and caffeine anhydrous valued at ₹4.54 crore in 2024–25. These chemicals—key precursors for methamphetamine—were allegedly routed to entities linked to Henry Lalbiakzinga, Laltluangzela, and Benjamin Lalawmpuai.

Investigators found that habitual offenders, including Abu Saleh Saif Uddin from Assam and Mizoram residents Zodinthara and Lalrampari, facilitated smuggling operations and hawala transactions. The ED also detected ties between Mizoram firms and Kolkata-based shell companies such as Mahasin Tradecom, managed by a suspect named Mohd. Zafar.

The probe uncovered a deeper cross-border nexus, where Myanmar nationals reportedly misused Indian GST identities to purchase chemical precursors. These substances were transported to Myanmar through the porous border and converted into methamphetamine tablets before being smuggled back into India, mainly through Mizoram.

ED officials reported suspicious financial activity, including ₹11 crore in credits in accounts linked to Abu Saleh and ₹52.8 crore in accounts connected to hawala operator Lalrampari. During the raids, officials seized ₹46.7 lakh in cash, along with digital records and documents. Twenty-one bank accounts suspected of holding proceeds of crime have been frozen under Section 17(1A) of PMLA.

The investigation is ongoing and is expected to uncover more links in the interstate and cross-border narcotics network.

Mizoram has witnessed a significant decline in the smuggling of drugs and Burmese areca nuts from Myanmar, thanks to tightened security measures along the international border, officials said. Chief Minister Lalduhoma was briefed about the developments during a review meeting on November 19, 2025, which also assessed the functioning of the Home Department and the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Department.

Home Department officials informed that 12 police stations and 10 Assam Rifles duty posts are now stationed along the 510-km Mizoram–Myanmar border, with enhanced vigilance and coordinated operations playing a key role in curbing illicit activities.

In a major step toward regulated cross-border trade, the state government is moving forward with plans to operationalize border haats, with the first one to be constructed at Zote in Champhai district, as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This initiative is expected to provide a legal channel for trade, reducing reliance on smuggling.

Since October 2025, a total of 21,238 people have been issued passes under the Free Movement Regime (FMR), allowing for legal and regulated movement between India and Myanmar. Authorities noted that this system not only facilitates legitimate crossings but also helps distinguish illegal activity more effectively.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the next round of talks between Mizoram and Assam to resolve a long-pending inter-state border dispute, highlighting the state government’s proactive approach to both international and domestic border management.

Officials emphasized that the combination of increased security, regulated trade, and community engagement is expected to maintain the declining trend in smuggling, ensuring better law and order and supporting the local economy in Mizoram.

U.S. President Donald Trump has leveled serious allegations against 23 countries, including India, China, and Pakistan, accusing them of being major drug production centers. According to Trump, these nations are involved not only in producing narcotics but also in manufacturing and transporting the chemicals required to make them.

Presenting his report to the U.S. Congress, Trump argued that such activities pose a direct threat to the safety and well-being of American citizens. The list of countries named includes Afghanistan, Mexico, Haiti, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Bolivia, and Burma, among others.

Trump emphasized that the widespread production and trafficking of drugs from these nations fuels the crisis in the United States, worsening addiction and crime. The accusations are expected to trigger diplomatic tensions, particularly with countries like India and China, which reject such sweeping claims. The issue has drawn international attention to global narcotics control.
