In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Kosi, Seemanchal, and Eastern Bihar will again hold the spotlight. These regions together account for 62 seats, and whichever alliance secures voter trust here often leads the state. Both NDA and the Grand Alliance are actively campaigning to strengthen their base.

In 2020, the NDA performed strongly in this belt, while the Grand Alliance suffered losses due to AIMIM’s entry. Earlier results, however, show changing voter trends. In 2015, the Grand Alliance dominated, while in 2010, NDA was ahead. This shifting behavior makes these districts unpredictable yet decisive.

The region includes eight key districts along the Kosi and Ganga rivers—Munger, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Purnia. These areas are politically sensitive due to the high share of minority voters. AIMIM’s rise in 2020 altered the balance, surprising established parties. Later, four AIMIM MLAs joined RJD, adding strength to the Grand Alliance. NDA had won 39 out of 62 seats here in 2020.

Meanwhile, a separate case in Banka district drew public anger. A land tax error imposed dues of over ₹72 lakh on only 90 decimals of land, leaving families shocked and sparking debate on revenue administration.
