OBCs won 83 seats, while EBCs won only 37. Upper castes captured 72 seats. Dalits and Adivasis together won 40 seats, and Muslim communities won 11 seats. This mix shows how caste identity continues to guide Bihar’s political choices.

Among major castes, Rajputs lead the list with 32 MLAs. Yadavs and Koeris follow with 26 each. Bhumihars won 25 seats, while Kurmis secured 14. Brahmins claimed 13 seats. Castes like Dusadhs, Ravidas, Teli, Dhanuk, and Musahar groups won between 9 and 11 seats.

Kanu communities have 5 MLAs. Kalwar and Sudi castes have 4 each. Marwari and Mallah groups won 3 seats each. Pasi, Kamat, Dhobi, Gangota, Kayastha, Roniyar, and Adivasi castes have two MLAs each. Several smaller castes won one seat each, showing wide social representation.

This updated snapshot helps readers understand how caste patterns influence political power in Bihar.

In the Bihar elections 2025, the NDA partners — BJP and JDU — have shaped their candidate lists to match Bihar’s social balance. The BJP fielded 21 Rajputs out of 49 upper-caste candidates, while Nitish Kumar’s JDU fielded 37 OBC and 22 EBC candidates. This shows a clear focus on social engineering. BJP has no Muslim candidates this time, while JDU included four Muslim names.

Across 202 NDA seats (BJP 101, JDU 101), 99 went to backward classes and 71 to upper castes. Women representation reached 35 seats overall, with 13 each from BJP and JDU. BJP’s upper-caste list includes Brahmins, Bhumihars, Rajputs, and Kayasthas, while JDU emphasized youth and marginalized groups such as Agrahari, Bansphor, and Kharwar castes.

Both parties are fine-tuning caste and community balance to keep their core voters satisfied ahead of Bihar elections 2025.

The Grand Alliance in Bihar is preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections with Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial face. The alliance plans to appoint three deputy chief ministers representing Dalit, Muslim, and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) communities. This move aims to promote social inclusion and political balance.

RJD will contest 125 seats, Congress 50–55, and Left parties about 25. Tejashwi’s leadership is seen as a unifying step, shifting RJD’s image from Yadav-centered politics toward a broader social base. Congress and VIP leaders call it a sign of inclusive governance.

However, critics argue the plan is a “false message” before elections, suggesting it may cause internal rivalry. Political analysts believe this formula could help Tejashwi by reducing dynasty politics allegations and assuring representation to weaker sections.
