Lalu Yadav’s Mahuabagh Palace has sparked a new political debate in Bihar. Lalu Yadav’s Mahuabagh Palace is being built in Patna, and the BJP says it shows how his family became wealthy through corruption.

The BJP posted a video of the under-construction building and said Lalu’s idea of “socialism” helps only his family. Party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar claimed the mansion represents money earned through scams.

In 2023, the Enforcement Directorate seized land and houses worth over ₹6 crore from Lalu Yadav’s family. This included land in Mahuabagh linked to Rabri Devi. The BJP now questions who owns the new bungalow shown in the viral video. Lalu is said to visit the site often to check progress.

There is also talk that the family may move to this palace after receiving a notice to vacate their 10 Circular Road house.

The BJP says the mansion stands on land exchanged for a job. They warn that the ED may again take action. The party accuses Lalu’s family of looting Bihar and demands an explanation about the source of this wealth.

The Bihar IAS tender scam has come into focus after the Enforcement Directorate uncovered serious evidence against two senior IAS officers. The Bihar IAS tender scam involves allegations that contractor Rishu Shree sponsored foreign trips and paid huge commissions to secure government contracts.

According to officials, Patna-based contractor Rishu Shree arranged a Europe tour for the families of IAS officers Yogesh Kumar Sagar and Abhilasha Sharma. In return, he allegedly received support in getting key government tenders. Sources say he even paid ₹9 lakh for gardening work at Abhilasha Sharma’s residence.

The Enforcement Directorate carried out raids at nine locations, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Gurugram, and Delhi. Officers recovered ₹3.3 million in cash, digital devices, diaries, and documents linked to the money laundering case.

This action follows a 2025 FIR filed by the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) of Bihar. The SVU has now begun legal steps against both IAS officers. Investigators say Rishu Shree worked as a contractor and sub-contractor in several Bihar government departments. He also paid large commissions to officials to win contracts.

His name earlier surfaced during ED action against IAS officer Sanjeev Hans. The investigation is still continuing.

In a major crackdown on cross-border narcotics networks, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday carried out its first-ever raids along the India–Myanmar border in Mizoram in connection with a drug-linked money laundering case. The searches were conducted in Aizawl and Champhai in Mizoram, Sribhumi in Assam, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to officials, the operation stems from a Mizoram Police FIR related to the seizure of 4.72 kg of heroin worth ₹1.41 crore from six people. During Thursday’s searches, the ED seized ₹35 lakh in cash and several digital devices believed to hold evidence of financial transactions tied to the drug trafficking network.

This marks the first time the ED has raided locations along the sensitive India–Myanmar corridor, a region known for its porous border and vulnerability to narcotics and precursor chemical smuggling. India shares a 1,643-km border with Myanmar, making it a critical zone in the fight against drug networks linked to the Golden Triangle.

Officials said their financial analysis uncovered strong linkages between Mizoram-based firms and Gujarat companies supplying pseudoephedrine tablets and caffeine anhydrous, both used as precursor chemicals for manufacturing methamphetamine. Several Kolkata-based shell companies were also found to be involved in procuring these chemicals.

The investigation revealed ₹52.8 crore in suspicious deposits across bank accounts belonging to narco-hawala operators in Mizoram, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, West Bengal, and Delhi. These networks allegedly funnel precursor chemicals across the border to Myanmar, where methamphetamine is produced before being smuggled back into India.

The ED is questioning multiple hawala operators as part of the ongoing operation. Officials said the raids highlight the agency’s commitment to dismantling narcotics-funded financial networks fuelling organised crime and insurgency in the Northeast.

These ED raids in Delhi, Gurugram, and Surat were carried out at nine locations across the country.

According to officials, the searches were conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Locations raided included Ahmedabad, Surat, Gurugram, and Delhi. During the operation, officers recovered around ₹33 lakh in cash, several digital devices, diaries, and important documents. All seized items have been taken into custody for forensic examination.

The probe began after an FIR filed in May 2025 by Bihar’s Special Vigilance Unit against Rishu Shree and others. Investigators allege that Rishu Shree worked as a contractor and sub-contractor in multiple Bihar government departments and paid large commissions to officials to secure contracts.

His name had also appeared earlier in another case connected to IAS officer Sanjeev Hans. The ED believes the latest evidence may help establish a link between the financial transactions and alleged illegal payments.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more actions are expected as the ED examines the seized materials.

The agency launched the action at around 6 AM, targeting major coal theft networks. The ED search operations illegal coal mining case involves huge financial losses running into hundreds of crores.

More than one hundred ED officials are involved in the massive operation. They are searching over 40 locations linked to the coal mafia. The aim is to uncover money laundering routes, illegal coal transportation, and storage networks.

In West Bengal, ED Kolkata teams are inspecting 24 premises across Durgapur, Purulia, Howrah, and Kolkata. Meanwhile, ED Ranchi teams are holding searches at 18 different places in Jharkhand. These spots are connected to several key cases of coal smuggling and theft.

The illegal coal trade has caused a major loss to the government. Therefore, the agency is focusing on breaking the full chain, including suppliers, transporters, and financial handlers. Officials expect more documents, digital records, and evidence to emerge from the raids.

The operation is likely to continue as the ED tracks the wider network behind the illegal mining activities.

The case has already shaken state politics, and Saturday’s events added a dramatic twist.

According to officials, Saha tried to flee when the ED team arrived. He jumped from the first floor of his house and attempted to scale the boundary wall. However, the officers posted outside quickly stopped him and took him into custody. In the process, the MLA allegedly threw one of his mobile phones into a nearby pond. The ED later recovered two more phones and sent them for forensic analysis.

Raids were also conducted at the houses of Saha’s in-laws in Raghunathganj. The agency confirmed that Saha is currently under interrogation and will soon be produced before a special ED court in Kolkata.

The teacher recruitment scam dates back to 2016, when the state government held an exam for 24,650 vacancies in aided schools. Over 23 lakh candidates appeared, but 25,753 appointment letters were issued, sparking allegations of large-scale irregularities. Both ED and CBI are probing the case, which continues to rock West Bengal politics.
