The Rajasthan government has opened the online portal for scholarship schemes for the 2025–26 academic session. The Social Justice and Empowerment Department announced the move to help school and college students apply digitally. The last date to submit applications is January 31.

For the first time, the department has introduced a One-Time Registration system. Students must complete OTR before applying for any scholarship scheme. Director Ashish Modi said applicants need to register through the National Scholarship Portal website or the NSP OTR mobile app.

E-KYC and face authentication are mandatory to complete the process. Students must download the “NSP OTR App” and “AadharFaceRD App” to verify their identity. Without successful authentication, the application will remain incomplete.

After submitting the form, students should carefully verify all entered details. Officials advised applicants to create their own password and review entries, even if they apply through e-Mitra centres, cyber cafés, or educational institutions.

The department is offering paperless online applications for several scholarship schemes. These include SC, ST, SBC, OBC, EWS, Chief Minister Sarvajan Higher Education Post-Matric Scholarship, and schemes for Vimukt, nomadic, semi-nomadic, Mirasi, and Bhishti communities.

Eligible Rajasthan domicile students studying in government or recognised private institutions can apply. Students enrolled in national or state-level institutions outside Rajasthan may also apply, except for Classes 11 and 12.

Applications are available through the Social Justice portal or the SSO platform.

Fear and confusion spread across Amritsar on Friday morning after multiple private schools received bomb threat emails. The alarming messages claimed explosives had been planted inside school premises, prompting immediate evacuations. School authorities acted swiftly and informed parents to pick up their children without delay.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that several schools in both urban and nearby rural areas received similar threatening emails. He said the police treated the matter with utmost seriousness. Authorities deployed gazetted officers at every affected school while anti-sabotage and bomb disposal teams carried out thorough inspections. Cyber Police teams have also begun tracing the origin of the emails.

A senior administrator of a prominent private school said the threat arrived on the institution’s official email ID. The school director immediately flagged it. “Student safety comes first. We closed the school for the day. Even if this turns out to be a hoax, we cannot take chances after recent security incidents,” the principal said.

Another major school alerted police instantly, following which bomb squads searched the entire campus. Deputy Commissioner Dalwinder Singh convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation. District Education Officer Rajesh Sharma said officials are coordinating closely with school managements and police to ensure safety and restore normalcy.

The 27-day-long PU Bachao Morcha protest at Punjab University, Chandigarh, ended on Saturday after the university administration accepted all six major demands raised by student organisations. Following the agreement, protesters began removing their tents and belongings from the campus.

Students had claimed that the demands were essential to restore democratic functioning at the university and resolve disputes linked to last year’s events. Their key demands included scrapping the “non-democratic” vetting committee, dissolving the panel reviewing affiliation of Haryana colleges, halting the PUCSC constitution and SOP until consultations with student groups, withdrawing the civil suit filed against student bodies, cancelling FIRs registered during last year’s Senate election protests, and dropping the inquiry against Prof. Kulwinder Singh and Prof. Sudhir Mehra.

Before the decision, PU Bachao Morcha held marches across all hostels, raising slogans such as “Mitti Dhun Rabab Di, Punjab University Punjab Di.” Students from rural areas celebrated by organising a tractor march across campus.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has declared the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) Result 2025. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now download their results from cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. The exam, held on November 2, saw around 1.21 lakh candidates appearing out of 1.34 lakh registrations.

A total of 8,383 candidates have qualified this year. The provisional answer key was released on November 4, and objections were accepted until November 6. The final results were published after evaluating the objections.

To clear the exam, general category candidates must score at least 40% (120/300), while reserved category candidates need 35% (105/300). The test covered 33 subjects across 316 centres in 11 districts, including Bengaluru, Dharwad, Mangaluru, Mysuru and Kalaburagi.

KSET is a state-level eligibility exam for recruitment of Assistant Professors in Karnataka’s universities and colleges. The exam consists of two papers: a general teaching and research aptitude test, and a subject-specific paper chosen by the candidate. Qualifiers become eligible to apply for Assistant Professor roles as per UGC norms.
