Under the Election Commission voter list revision, officials will verify voter details through door-to-door checks and data verification. The aim is to remove duplicate entries, delete names of deceased voters, and add newly eligible citizens to the voter list.

Earlier phases of the Special Intensive Revision already covered several states. During the previous phase, authorities removed millions of incorrect or duplicate entries after detailed verification to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls.

The upcoming phase will cover a large number of voters in the remaining states and Union Territories. Officials say the large-scale revision will help maintain an accurate voter database and strengthen the election process across the country.

The Election Commission will also allow citizens to apply for corrections, transfers, or new registrations during the revision process.

Election officials said the updated rolls cover all municipal wards under the Aizawl civic body. Eligible voters can now check their names, addresses, and other details to ensure accuracy. Officials have advised citizens to report any errors, omissions, or spelling mistakes within the stipulated correction period.

The release of the electoral rolls will help officials finalise polling arrangements, including booth allocation, deployment of election staff, and distribution of voter information materials. Authorities said a transparent and accurate voter list is essential to ensure smooth conduct of the elections and prevent disputes on polling day.

Local political parties and civic groups have urged residents to actively participate in the verification process. Volunteers are assisting senior citizens and first-time voters in checking their registration status through official channels. Election officers have also set up help desks to address voter queries related to enrollment and corrections.

Officials noted that the civic body elections play a key role in shaping urban governance, as elected representatives handle issues such as sanitation, infrastructure, water supply, and local development. They encouraged maximum voter participation to strengthen democratic decision-making at the grassroots level.

With the electoral rolls now public, the election machinery will move ahead with the next phases of preparation. Authorities reiterated their commitment to conducting the polls in a fair, orderly, and transparent manner while ensuring that every eligible voter gets the chance to cast their vote.
