Assam witnessed widespread flooding that displaced thousands, damaged homes, and disrupted transport and communication. Gujarat faced flash floods that impacted urban and rural areas alike, causing economic setbacks and infrastructure breakdowns. With this additional allocation, both states can accelerate rehabilitation efforts and strengthen flood preparedness.

The funds will be released under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Local governments will use the money to repair roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals. Relief operations will also include food distribution, medical aid, and temporary shelters for displaced families.

Moreover, the Centre aims to reduce future risks by encouraging states to invest in flood-resilient infrastructure. These ₹707.97 crore flood relief funds will not only support recovery but also promote long-term resilience.
