Leaders across India marked Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s death anniversary today with heartfelt tributes. Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy joined them by sharing his message on X. He reflected on Ambedkar’s contribution as the architect of the Constitution. Moreover, he explained that strong nation-building begins with clarity of purpose and responsibility.

Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that true respect for the Constitution comes only through consistent practice. He emphasised that Ambedkar worked tirelessly for equality and justice. Because of this vision, Jagan urged citizens to uphold the values Ambedkar promoted. He noted that these principles continue to guide India’s democratic progress.

During his message, Jagan highlighted the need for equal opportunities for every citizen. He added that rights must be protected without bias or discrimination. As Ambedkar strongly believed in unity, Jagan reminded people to rise above caste, religion, region, and language. In addition, he said that harmony and mutual respect form the foundation of a healthy society.

Jagan concluded that Ambedkar’s speeches and writings offered timeless lessons for the world. He admired Ambedkar as a visionary who turned the aspirations of the oppressed into constitutional safeguards. With that, he said Ambedkar’s legacy continues to inspire movements for equality and empowerment.

The Telangana Government launched a new programme called ‘Sneha Groups’ for teenage girls. The objective is to improve their health, leadership skills and self-confidence. Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka launched the project at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday. These groups will work on a community model similar to women’s self-help groups.

The programme targets girls aged between 15 and 18 years across the state. Telangana has 19.13 lakh girls in this age group. In the first phase, 6,138 Sneha Groups were formed with 65,615 girls. Jogulamba Gadwal district formed 568 groups with 6,662 girls, while Warangal district formed 439 groups with 4,167 girls. More than 10,000 girls in both districts will receive benefits through this initiative.

The groups will focus on awareness and training. Key areas include health, mental well-being, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, cyber safety, skill development, online abuse prevention and career guidance. Training programmes will also encourage financial independence and confidence building.

SERP and UNICEF are jointly supporting the implementation. NFHS-5 data shows 58% of girls suffer from anaemia and 40% are underweight. Many girls also face challenges like child marriage and school dropouts. ‘Sneha’ aims to create equal opportunities and long-term empowerment.

The recognition celebrates visionary women transforming industries and inspiring the next generation.

Her achievement follows a prestigious honour received from President Droupadi Murmu for her exceptional contribution to the Indian banking sector. Manimekhalai described the award as a recognition of every woman who dreams and every professional who values integrity. She said leadership, to her, is about responsibility rather than position.

During her leadership at Union Bank, the institution recorded a 243% profit rise, reaching nearly ₹18,000 crore. She strengthened the bank’s capital base, improved asset quality, and advanced digital innovation, making Union Bank a model of transformation in the public sector.

Manimekhalai’s philosophy focused on inclusive growth and women-led progress. Her journey from modest beginnings to leading a major national bank continues to inspire professionals.
